Short note: My my I really have been neglecting this blog so badly. And worse of all is not like there is a reason why I haven't been blogging! Not like i'm that busy or don't have much to write, is just the whole blogging feeling seem to have dissapeared? ah well

First thing that came to mind after I finished the so so long project cross stitch, check blog on when I actually started. One good thing about blogging. Haha. So after 3 years, 3 months and 10 days it is finally done and no way me doing another one for a long time....

Wonder what I should do next? Any ideas? arghhh

Anyone got any idea where to frame this? I have this feeling is going to cost me heaps just to frame this now! arghhhh

Note: Going to be in Brisbane for the Easter long weekend...weeeeee another holiday....:)

Lots have happened since I last updated this very neglected blog...some good some bad....ah well that is life anyway.....so just to recap what's been going on

1. From my last post on Christmas Day: Went back to Malaysia for a day....then went to Taiwan.....went back to Malaysia......whirlwind trip..and as all typical Nicole's holiday, none of them are ever relaxing???? but no complains......this trip was great....first family trip in a long time (or should I add family trip= more stress?)

2. New JOB......for those not keeping in touch with me (you know who you are)...yes I finally got a new job....perhaps it was post PHD trauma, but I never did feel settled in my old job...or more like I felt I wasn't challenged enough (bored to the max would be more like it)....so now new job...back home (nearer to civilisation)...and new job close to home....nothing beats getting to go home for lunch and a short nap... :) ok apart from the short nap part in the afternoon...atleast I feel a lot happier in the new job....people are friendlier and more fast pace....and I atleast feel my day ain't wasted.....(although I have to say i've been working over time a lot lately..but yet it doesn't feel so bad)

3. Bad "event": Enough said not going to say what or who is involved...although some of you might know since I have live with the "problem" for a while...but is good to know I've moved on while some just move backward (or maybe just got stuck somewhere)

4. I'm 85% done with my cross-stitch...wooo hooo...soon soon soon..this project has gone on for 2 years..or was it 3???? damn I'm losing count....but is good to be catching up on series, dramas and movies.......just finished Harper's Island last night...that show was heaps good...except for the last 20 minutes.....hated the ending so much...talk about a turn off...hmph

5. seriusly nothing else major in my life except catching up with friends, family, more and more eating, wedding, parties ....I have to admit though lately I haven't been taking loads of photos like I used to...I think is more because I know it would take a long time for it to be removed from my camera....:)

I wonder when would I have a sudden urge to update this blog again?

Note: Does anyone else have the problem of your laptop keyboard suddenly feel like typing “sssss” non stop? Sorry to those ppl I was chatting on MSN with who must be scratching their head wondering what language I was speaking (with someone thinking I was speaking Malay)….got so sick and tired of it I just turned MSN off.. :)

In the past 10 days,

1) Moved out of Carlingford and back to parent’s place:

Moving was relatively easy for me since is not my crap I have to worry about…but cleaning the place up and not to mention thinking of where to place stuffs at parent’s place have never been so tiring!! But atleast I’m now no longer sleeping in a room filled with boxes and Carlingford is now history (with me getting all my bond money back!)…although my car boot still have some cleaning crap, buckets, dustbins, vacuum cleaner which I really should find place to put it….atleast is hidden for the time being J Unfortunately new bed is not here yet…so looks like I’ll be sleeping on the floor and Joyce in the living room for the next 3 weeks… crap

2) No pink thesis but atleast it is done done done:

Finally got the thesis bounded and handed in…so totally out of my hand and just waiting for the absolutely slow GRS to get back to me on the graduation date….pink thesis was out of the question since I’ll have to wait another few weeks….at this point all I want is everything to be over to seriously put the whole PhD thing behind…..it just dragged on too long…and the waiting part….I still want to kill so many people

3) Thesis is gone and birthday celebration:

Since Ting was going back to Msia soon for a few weeks and conveniently missing my birthday..had a super early celebration this year…and it was good to just chillax after the thesis is gone gone gone.. J great dinner of fried chicken and sausages galore…and drinks after that….and before my mum spread the news of me coming home that night drunk, I WAS SO NOT DRUNK!! I did after all come back home, open the door, shower, blow dry my hair and sleep J…. And atleast I did not ask for Panadol the next day (but thanks Jon for offering)..Thanks to those that came (aka Ting, Mabel, Cecilia, Lindsey and Alex)

4) The eBay hell:

Talk about a transaction from hell…..3 weeks ago I manage to sell my bed on ebay for $300 to a “princessvolutaire”….then 1 week after that, the she decided that she doesn’t want it because she can’t collect it for a while…me being the kind soul gave her the option of keeping it for her for another week but she said no…FINE….so had to relist the item….and it got sold last week for $287 to a “bonafielovin”…..then nightmare begins..

a. Once your item is sold, you get to see buyer’s information including their names and addresses…both “princessvolutaire” and “bonafiedlovin” have the same last name and both stay in Darling Point, Sydney…."princessvolutaire” had 200 something feedback scores while “bonafiedlovin” had like 1 (which lo and behold came from “princessvolutaire”)…..so is quite obvious that both are the same person and “princessvolutaire” is making up new IDs to get more feedback scores…talk about cheap

b. So fine…here I am poorer by 13 dollars (that is like 2 Mcdonald Angus meal ok!!!)..at this stage all I wanted to do was to get rid of the bed so we got place to move into!! “bonafiedlovin” refused to leave me a mobile number to discuss pickup time (quite smart considering I did know what was “princessvolutaire” mobile number)….then I got a call on the day that I WAS MOVING which was the 12th….like shit that damn ppl..I specifically wrote on my ebay ad that the bed needed to go by the 12th!! Anyways the person who called me was a female…when “bonafiedlovin” was suppose to be a male….To cut the long story short, I was given the long winded story about “bonafiedlovin” was the son of the caller and he is too busy to call me…and that they too busy to pick up the item! F.U. to the max….so got pissed and said according to my ad they atleast have to pay first…which surprisingly they did!!!! STUPIDLY using “princessvolutaire” paypal account….Blunder #1

c. So she called me back and told me she will send someone to pick up the bed on the 12th at 7pm…and gave me permission to dismantle the bed (right on the most busiest day I still have to do shits for you)….so rush all the way back home and left sis with removalist…and quickly dismantle the bed..and left the whole shit at the porch (like come on I was already dead tired and not to mention pissed at being lied to..do I look like I was going to take care of your item for you? Esp since i already got the money?)….so then after that I worry my own crap…..and come 7pm still no one arrived…then I got a sms at 8pm from “princessvolutaire” saying she got personal problems and can’t collect the item….BLUNDER #2…with sms you can’t hide your mobile number dumbass! Muahahah…so I decided to play dumb and send back an sms to ask who was that…:)..5 minutes after that a call from a private number asking me if the person arrive to collect the bed…I said no and ask if she was the one sms-ing me…she said NO! And kept saying it was definitely the removalist to say that they are busy!! LIKE BLOODY EXCUSE ME…DO YOU TAKE ME FOR A DUMB FOOL?!! I AM AFTER ALL NICOLE TAN OK!!! BLUNDER #3

d. Anyways I told her I have no space in the house to put the bed..so she reluctantly said ok and will try to collect on the 13th…haha life sucks men…if you were much nicer to me and stop lying your ass off…I would have definitely put more care to the stuffs….so on the 13th she called me to say she arrange for someone to pick it up at 8pm…so fine….at 8pm a call came and it was from “princessvolutaire”..haha BLUNDER #4 she forgot to hide the identity of her mobile phone….but i think is because she was telling the removalist was somewhere around my place and he was lost…so anyways the bed is finally gone….although that removalist could have been more careful..haha some Malaysian dude who wasn’t exactly very careful..heard him dropped some stuffs on the road….but bah who cares..not my business anymore…

So you tell me….transaction from hell or not? Was so pissed at how I was lied to and all the inconvenience it had cost me…that I took time off my busy schedule to write a few complain emails to eBay…by the way their support system is damn good! so now both “princessvolutaire” and “bonafiedlovin” is under investigation..serve those two right for treating me like a dumb ass… :) So let that be a warning to everyone not to do transaction with those 2….by the way I’m already dead nice of not putting both their real names, email address, phone numbers and addresses here (as much as I’m inclined to)….Just so glad don’t need to hear from both of them again!

I’m so going to just take it slow this weekend! Going to stay home and watch tv! I deserve it!

Note: I have good reason for neglecting bloggy over here you know…firstly I’m moving tomorrow back to my parents place (although it does make me wonder is moving back the right term to use since I never did move anything out except maybe 30% of my clothes?)…..secondly…can i just selling furnitures are never fun..I’m trying to sell 2 beds on ebay with one sold easily and other one just pissing me off!!!! Hopefully that person get it tmr and all matter solved or not just kill me….thirdly…..just read the post below!

……….after 6 months 2 weeks and 1 day of submission, tons of chasing-up emails, lots of bugging my old supervisor to do something about it……………my thesis has finally been accepted!!!!!!!!

Seriously the past week have been so torturous……. the revising thesis part which seriously made me angry enough to kill everyone…ok make that some of the reviewers….had 3 of them..one of them had like 4 comments (all typo mistakes in my part)…one of them had 5 pages worth of comments (which almost make me want to puke blood until….)….third reviewer had one page of comments but consisted of me having to rewrite the entire discussion chapter….not to mention scribbling in every single page of my thesis….I literally had that thesis returned to me looking like a salted vegetable! Urghhhh

But atleast all is done….now just have to look for a printing shop that would print my 250 page thesis in bright pink! Anyone know any good ones?

Note: Had my first ever yelling session at a carpark with two total strangers yesterday at the airport. Apparently these idiots originating from China thinks that the “pedestrian comes first” rule means that they can push their luggage trolley in the middle of the carpark road with atleast 7 cars trailing behind them cursing (no joke)! The yelling started when they touch my precious car to tell me to be careful while reversing into a spot when they were standing in the middle of road waiting for their friend to open the boot. These idiots were trying to prove although they just came from some village in China, their English power was so good although the only words they know seem to be “pedestrian comes first”….and since my Chinese power ain’t that strong I obviously yelled at them in English…I was told that I should be more feminine, talk more gently and softly…but to village people like them..my parting words to them was a simple “DIU LEI” with a third finger and their shocked face that I would do such a thing…

Few years back I thought I was so smart when I put my email account as nicoletan@gmail.com. But now that I think of it maybe is not such a great idea since I seem to be getting so many emails directed to the different Nicole Tan(s). So to the other Nicole Tan(s) reading this blog,

1) The “annoying” Nicole Tan that insist that nicoletan@gmail.com is her account and keep on trying to reset my password..I’m sorry I’m calling you annoying…but the amount of times that you tried resetting the password and me getting notices from Google Password Assistance in my secondary email account is starting to seriously annoy me..I had to even email Google to ask them for help..thank god they said it was alright and my email won’t be resetted unless I reply to their notices!

2) The Nicole Tan from Malacca: Can you please kindly remove my email address from your out-of-office email list because every time you are out of your office, I get random emails from your suppliers/distributors and your BOSS!!! And I’m pretty sure your company budget and account details are strictly confidential..and why is it your suppliers/distributors just love to press the reply all button?!

3) The Nicole Tan from Indonesia: Congratulations you are getting married soon..but why is it you don’t even know your own email address and put my email address in some bridal forum until I’m getting so many emails from wedding planners, wedding photographers and hotels about wedding receptions in Indonesia….I bet you are from Jakarta actually since most of them were saying Jakarta…I tried removing my email address from that forum but it required a password!!!

4) The Nicole Tan who is a more popular blogger than me not to mention prettier and eye-candy to the male population out there…I’m getting a lot of emails from your prospective sponsors and your male fans..I did forward some of them to you…but seriously it is getting a little tiring and I don’t think is my job to do it..and since you do have your email address big big on your blog and some people still get it wrong..blame them!!!! Although don’t worry if there was a very very important email I would forward it to you..atleast I know your email address to forward your things!

Note: Neglected blog due to Nicole actually having some sort of a life?! this includes fixing up Leolex (you should see how gorgeous Leolex is now....scratchless and shiny!!!! so smooth!!! especially the ass!! total cost to the not-so-smart person who banged my Leolex......$1100 + my one week of driving a shit rental car that cost a whooping $400..thank god I'm not paying!), Mum's day, full-time work, casual work in the lab, part-time travel agent for my dad and casual complain citizen (wrote a nice long complain letter to 3 Mobile about their customer service...yes bombarded another "service rep"..will update once I get feedback from my complain letter)

Anyways here is a picture of the Tiramisu cake Joyce and I made for my mum for Mother's Day....Jonathan had his hands on it by just using icing to decorate the place! hmph! I did that spider web looking thingy..some cheap decorating trick i learnt from I forgot who....was a super yummy cake!!! although I did get sick after eating it due to the amount of cheese in it!

Anyways after what seems to be a relatively short journey home..I'm finally back in KL.....and talk about slept the whole way through from Aussie to Bangkok....only waking up to eat...(as usual)...but oh my i was so half dead in the plane!!!!! Bangkok was so nice!!!!!! manage to fit in a massage...talk about hearing all my bones cracking!!!! but oooh i feel so much more better and relaxed already!!! To those of you in KL..I know i've been bad and never bothered to email or tell anyone me back....Unless of course you read my blog..haha but text me on my Aussie mobile..i'll check in once a day or something and call you back..i've got a malaysian number which I'm obviously not going to put up on my blog!!! if you want it ask either velverse, my mum, my dad, jonathan, joyce, heidi or kaka! haha see so many choices right?

Note: Going to be super duper long post….to compensate for the lack of post lately..I’m actually surprised that my blog still have readers! But thanks guys for still coming and visiting my blog……

1) To those who doesn’t know yet..I’m going back to KL for a week and a bit in 2 more sleep days! Woo hoo…going to be rush rush trip because I need a holiday!!! Just feeling so exhausted from everything..having a full time job…and a casual job in the lab is not fun at all!!! Infact I dread that my weekends are usually gone and I’m drastically missing “me me me” time…but hey going back to KL would be no “me me me” time but is going to be loads of eating and hiao-ing with cousins time!!! Flight itenary for the trip…Sydney to Bangkok to KL to Perth to Sydney all in the course of 10 days! Fun!

2) Super hiao picture taking weekend….Zamil called me the other day and asked me if I wanted to go for a nice photo shooting day with Jacinta and Jody…and I know Jacinta had a good camera….and Zamil just got a new spanking cool shit camera….so obviously I can’t say no….yes even with the walking that was going to be involved! It was fun fun fun…(minus the walking bit and the tanning bit!)…we went around Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House and the Botanical Garden…had lunch at the extremely NO GOOD Pancakes at the Rocks..the quality of the food at that place has definitely went downhill…definitely will be put on my to ban list! took heaps of pics...but too lazy to edit..just selected a few..sorry guys but just from 2 cameras I already have 200+ pics....

3) Went back in time a bit for Cecilia’s Super Heroes High School Birthday Bash…either dress up as a Super Hero, high school student or be punished….hmmm I wasn’t going to risk being punished since I have a feeling is going to be alcohol involved and me trying to be good! haha….so yes dressed up as high school student since I was too lazy to think further…even the dog was dressed up as superman….so cutie!!!! Great birthday bash but was kinda sick that day with the flu….so didn’t enjoy as much as I should have.

4) Had a “My sister is not at home” party….great fun….invited lab ppl, Jacinta & Jody and Thuan and Su Yin…fun fun fun…although next time I’m going to tell ppl exactly what time to come.....but great fun....from 4pm to midnight...and me cleaning till 2 am before my sister come home the next day at 8am....haha talk about expert and profesional! Didn't take many photos on that day....but got heaps of Rockband videos....

5) Don't think I told you guys...but some biatch just hit my precious Leolex car...so pissed....my scratchless bumper...my haven't had accident yet Leolex.....talk about scarring my Leolex....urghh....Now Leolex need to get a new bumper.....as what my sister said.."Think about it...is like Alex Fong and Leo Ku getting a nice tighter bum." trust me I don't exactly want to think about that!! this seriusly contribute to why I was super super busy lately...hai.... Alright about all the updates now....so much for a long post....i think is pretty long....Need to go pack!!! and weirdly enough I'm bringing only 2 days worth of clothings back so far....and my bag is already 20kg....I think is from all the other things i have to bring back for other ppl!!! :) I wonder how much shopping I can do in 10 days.....hmmmmmm

Note: Fine I admit I hate Valentines Day!!! feel like shooting that dude who created this day!!! so how I'm going to be spending valentines day?!! WORKING IN THE LAB!!! hai....atleast I get $$$ this time....:)

Guess what??? I finally realise the key to cooking a super damn keng yummy char kway teow is the fried pork lard!!!! no matter what you guys say about it being high cholestrol, so bloody unhealthy, so yucky....bah is super damn nice!!!!!! fine I admit I cheated in making the char kway teow in the first place since I'm using the kit...but I was lazy....atleast I'm honest right??!!!!

I actually got 2 boxes on different days from the same shop....and you know what?! one box had fried pork lard and the other didn't!!!!!! I didn't realise it until I tasted the second batch of char kway teow...so horrible!!!! and I cooked it the same way!!!! I can't believe this!! I think the fried pork lard is no longer available with the kit now...damn!!!!

First dinner out with the bunch and me dragging my sister along...since she was going to be home alone....and I wanted company for the ride home...dinner was I think for Thuan and Su Yin farewell before they go India for their holiday.....urmmm or was it for Zamil since he came back from singapore????....it could also be because Denuja just came back from London??....but anyways Jody and Jacinta suggested Bistro Bruno at Balmain....since it was rated quite high on eatability.com .....truthfully speaking the place was nothing great lah...but atleast this place suited all our dietary requirement.....finding a place to eat for the bunch of us is one big headache....one cannot eat pork....one is vegetarian...one cannot eat beef....one cannot eat lamb....and one carnivourous who doesn't eat veggie!!! Hai you see how hard is it to find a place to eat??!!!!

My past 2 days schedule:

Friday: Went to work.....then went straight to lab..... went for dinner with Lionel and Zamil......caught up with Ning, Jeff and his mates from Phillipines for shisha and baclavas at Bankstown....Got home at 1.30am....

Saturday: Woke up at 7am to cleanse myself at the temple with Heidi, Kaka and Deasy...had brekkie at Glebe...went back to lab to do work..went to city to the hair dresser....went back to lab to work....drove 40 minutes back home...went back to city within 1 hour for dinner with sis and her work colleagues....went back parents home....came back home at midnight....too hot to sleep!!!

Sunday: I REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING!!!!! BURNING HERE!!!!! so sleepy!!!!!

Pictures were taken on Friday....Dinner was Erciyes Turkish Restaurant at Surry Hills....great dinner although Lionel and Zamil weren't paying attention to me!!! They were busy staring at the belly dancers...:( Felt so leftout!!!!

After that caught up with Jeff with his mates from Phillipines (Stan and John)...cool bunch of people....went all the way to Bankstown for baclavas and shisha...Forced Ning from the comfort of his house to come out since he stayed within walking distance to the place we were at....the baclavas were good...forgot the name of the place though because I was seriusly quite sleepy that time..but I rememebered how to get there..(I think..)..was greatly entertained by Jeff and Stan.... ;)

Stuck in a jam right outside my office. Pissed and seriously tired. .....since yesterday the jam is getting quite bad.....left lane to go straight is super free no cars...and right lane (which i have to be in) is so damn long literally long enough for me to be stuck for 25 minutes when usually takes like 1 min??? And there come this car swerving her bitchy driving right into my line from the left making me brake hard like hell. As if being in front of another bitch was not annoying enough. All this non civilised idiot who can't be bothered to line up in the line to turn.

600 Blended Roasted Peanuts
225g Margarine

Ok so I decided to finally expose that Holga film I have...like better than nothing right???? How much is it to expose 16 films (Type 120)??? $60 bucks!!!! FFFFFFFF wTF?!!!!!!

Anyways I decided against developing the pics for it...afterall I seriusly didn't know how it will turn out since everyone was using the camera that day..so I took the chicken safer option to develop it into film for $10.

Got it back few days back...out of 16 photos??? only 5 came out!!!!! WTF WTF WTF?!!!!! and 5 of those are my hiao ones which I shall not even bother developing...the other 11 were the ones of my Xmas party...crap....god knows what happened....

STUPID HOLGA!!!! hmmm i'm so changing the wiki page for it!!!! INEXPENSIVE MY ASS!!!! from now on I'm sticking to digital camera!!! no matter what anyone say!! (cuzzie friend complain to her say I don't like those traditional camera...hmph.....)

First Post for the Year!!!

Note: I know I've been so slack on blog posting even though I was on holidays..I wonder what happened??? feels like the time seriusly just went by so fast!!! this week is just going to be torture going to work!

1. I've finally deflower my this year birthday gift...the Holga Camera..actually make that half deflower....since I've used the camera but I haven't actually got around to developing the film!!! which I kept in a very safe area that I'm sure in a few months time I'll forget!! Since I think I'm having more fun playing with the filter lens from the kit!!!! haha I actually used it with my current camera....quite hard though...it was better with Jeff's camera...and Jeff has so many pics which after god knows how many reminders via emails, phone calls and sms that lazy bum still haven't put up the pics yet...urghh...can someone please go bug him for me?? (hint hint Tina!!)

2. I've moved!!! finally!!! woo hoo....yes I've moved in with my sister....on the 1st of January 2009!!! muahaha..yes that was how I spent my New Year!! I think this is my record ever move...I started packing my stuffs from the old place at 10.30am...was in the car by noon.....dumped everything in the new place..had lunch..unpack all my stuffs....all by 3pm!! haha record!!! it helps when I'm not actually leaving my old place (I would consider that my weekend home from now on)....and it is nice to have now have 2 bedrooms to disperse all my junk!!! muahahaha (yup I think that beats cuzzie velverse big big big wardrobe!!!)...the only prob is where am I going to put my RockBand set in the living room?? hmmmm ah I've got until the end of the month to think about it (I told Jonathan he could have the PlayStation and Rockband since he is on hols..I'm so nice hor?) and it only takes me 20 minutes to work now instead of the 1 hour!! muahaha and no toll and traffic jams !!! lala I save money and I get more sleep!!! and no Jonathan? hehe

3. I've offcially accumulated enough crap to watch for the next 5 years!!! no kidding..seriusly Ricky downloaded so many crap shows to watch that I'm slowly going through it now during dinner time!!! and by the way some of these are like backdated to 2005!!! from talk shows to game shows to dramas...god knows if I will ever finish watching them...Anyways for now.....me watching the HK version of Are you Smarter Than A 5th Grader....never liked the Australian version...but HK version got my Leo Ku in it as host...haha..also catching up on the latest installment of the Super Trio Supreme Show..and just before you guys complain about me watching crappy shit show...I'm also "improving" my brain cells by watching this Malaysian show on the net (go stream it on Youtube) called Sony Double Exposure....for a malaysian reality show this was pretty good..I actually learn something about how to take my photos in future!!! ok I forward all the crappy part..the part where the judges scrutinize the pictures taken is actually seriusly quite good...

4. Bring On The War.....(hmmm come to think this is the first picture I took of my car...:) and conveniently Joyce's car is there too)...oh about the war....my new place comes with covered parking....but is between a lockup garage that is next to a somee gigantic gross shit lizards settlement (for those who don't know me...I hate and despise lizards!!! give me coakroach, bees, spiders, mouse, rat watever....but I so hate lizards!!!) and parking my car there just increases the chance of being near lizards or perhaps lizards jumping on me (yes a bit far fetched here but I can seriusly imagine that!)....gross!!! urghh...I could potentially/have park my car at the parking lots available for visitors...but unfortunately 2 out of 3 days I parked there I had bird shit on my car.....so guess outside on the street seems to be the way to go unless I find a spot where no birds can go to....urghh...and if you are wondering why no pics of the lizards or birds (do i look like i was going to go near a lizard??? and those bird if I ever get near them the first thing I'll do is kill them!!! urghh..stupid bird shit!!!! on my precious car some more!)

5. This is a pure example of looks are so deceiving!!!! infact the chocolates inside looks super normal...infact looks super yum too..since it is white chocolate balls...so I happily took 1.....one bite of it and I got the shock of my life!!! it is so bloody sour inside!!!!!!! I hate sour stuffs!!! not to mention I hate strawberries (fruits in general)!! how can they mix my favourite white chocolate with sour strawberries?!! And I'm not the only one who can't stand it....I started giving the chocolates to ppl since I seriusly cannot stand it...and most of them are full on cursing me!!! arghh....never again would I touch that evil chocolates again (I threw it away in the end)...sorry Jeff!!!! but seriusly it was that bad!!! but I love the container!! infact I'm keeping the container...making full use of it too..I put the Holga film into it...so that it wouldn't get exposed to light!!! (see point 1) :) if I ever forget where I put it atleast I know i can read this post again!! :)

Another few more days and holidays would come to an end...been such a great relaxing chilling holiday....dread going back to work next week....but good news is I'm finally moving nearer to my work place...tmr in fact....haven't even start packing...just going to dump the clothes I need and all my other crap..not bothered about anything else...afterall is only 30 minutes to come back home! haha....

Was watching this movie called Money No Enough 2 (钱不够用2) last night. I remembered watching the first part of it years ago! can't believe they actually came up with a 2nd installment of it....not related to the first anyway. I actually went through the whole show (thank god for subtitles) that has mandarin, hokkien, malay and singlish!!!! haha made me feel like I was back in Msia!!!! The show wasn't meant to be a comedy but I was laughing my head off at the scene where the mum was asking her son in hokkien whether he has eaten..haha and she just kept on asking and asking due to her deteriorating memory...and funny enough I was telling Heidi the other day about how the only sentence I learnt while holidaying in Korea with her was that exact same 4 word...Ni Jiak Bao Bei? I think this word is seriusly going to be stuck in my head for a while!! Show definately reflected a bit on the life in Singapore...quite sad if you think about it..all the bloody kiasu and kiasi....(image taken from the movie website)

Note: Sister and Ricky away at Cairns for Xmas....parents and Jonathan going to Thredbo tmr....I'm home alone for Xmas!! makes me feel like watching Home Alone 1 and 2 again...:)

Had early Xmas dinner this year on the 21st...blame it on Joyce and Ricky!!! they decided they wanted to go to Cairns this year before Ricky go back to Hong Kong to work....yes we will all miss him....he was so nice this year!!! he got my parents a spanking cool wine cooler!!!!! (of course I already made full use of that to chill all my drinks for my party tmr..hehe but dun tell my parents...they haven't noticed I moved their wines yet!)..Ricky got me a new portable hard disk since he knew I screwed mine up the last time...he is such a darling i tell you!!!! so sweet....we got him a picture booklet decorated and photoshopped by me of course :)

This year Xmas dinner included turkey...since my dad is here and it is a family tradition to have turkey for Xmas!!!! I of course took the chance to utilise my Jamie Oliver cookbook again and sort of followed how he did the turkey (hey I'm not a copy cat!! I changed some stuffs inside!!) the turkey was great...esp since i wrapped it up while cooking with prosciutto..haha....unfortunately my apple and lychee pie was a failure......it was edible...but just weird..haha I think it was because I was forced not to follow the recipe which needed me to add 200g of sugar!!!! i ended up using one table spoon...big mistake!!! stupid Joyce!! you can't keep everyone happy!!! urgh......I'm so making my condensed milk flan for my own Xmas party now!!! hmph.....oh yeah me having a rockband party tmr!!! woo hoo!!!!!!! parents sort of banned me from playing rockband after 8.30 pm!!! I wonder why?? but I got a full 4 days to utilise since they are not around..muahahhaa don't expect me to be sociable until after the 28th ppl!!! :)

Note: Woo hoo I finally made up my mind and got the Rockband!!!! wanted to get Guitar Heroes but it was sold out....I got the last Rockband set for 200 bucks!!! a savings of 64 bucks!! now I'm seriusly happy!! lalala...Xmas is going to be fun fun fun.....and since I'm home alone....I'm jamming up my house!!! muahahahahhaa

Yesterday was Lionel's 2nd housewarming ever since he came to Sydney...didn't take much photos there...I was seriusly half dead....a week of deprived sleep, nice comfy house, even nicer comfy couch...I seriusly almost fell asleep if not for that game of Cranium...

And why the big fat faces? dunno since normal ppl usually take picture in such a way they look thin and less big faced...decided I wanted to go opposite...haha i have to say all of us look pretty good for a big face head shot....:)...but I think having it in black and white was better..the coloured shot was SCARY! haha

Well is the Xmas party...I took a day off from work for it...but it was worth it...got so many errands done!!! phewwww......The event was held at Hyde Park...some going to be opened apartments...we got a showroom apartment for free!!! so that is why the party was there just in case some of you are wondering. :) the views were great...we even got front seat of view of some army training....:) helicopters all around....

Ok better go off now...I think I wasted enough of your time seeing those pictures....I finally manage to get my hands on how to work a gif file...phewww...btw don't you like the present I gave jeff??? hehe I think I put so many thoughts into it....NO ONE TOUCH THOSE M&M I gave him.....I need him to be fatter than me....(I think his waist line and mine are almost identical!! arghh...stress!!!! come on help me make Jeff FAT!!!!).....

Note: woo hoo me on a efficiency roll here....serviced car this morning, met up with 2 seperate friends, went to lab to get some pics, did my errands and shopping..and even fit in exercising (walked from Rosebery to Randwick..took me 40 minutes...)....all by 12.30...I guess it does help getting up at 6.45....but sheesh I rather not do this anymore

Few days back, I took a day off work since I had some stuffs to do...which I won't say until I put the pics up (hopefully next week)....but here are some of my camwhoring pics taken since the place I went to had such gorgeus views....the bathroom and the bedroom was so nice!!! especially since my current room is in a seriusly shocking state...I think I need to buy a new wardrobe soon...I can't fit my clothes in mine!!!!

New Job First Xmas Party

Note: When 2 laptop decides to die together all I can do is just look at it with shock and horror...go thorugh some stress moments, waste few hours of my life being stuck in jams just to get it fix, braving the rain, cursing at everyone, being in a fowl mood and etc....but seriusly I just realise how lonely nights are if you are home and computerless....IT SUCKS!! I think I'm a nerd!!! sob sob!

Been a hectic past week....will try to upload pics as I get it....going to be another busy week ahead...definately no pajamas weekend this week...darn...got to go service my car first thing in the morning.....Sunday got this Malaysian researcher seminar...arghhhh

So just to clear some picture loads and I have to admit these pics were taken by other people.....I felt "pai seh" want to take out my camera during my company Xmas dinner....come on...me new ok..still need to show some urmmmm "good side?" :)

Party was alright....food was below average...gift bags was awesome (a bottle of wine, an engraved pen, chocolates, wine holder)....and the cake was super great!!! I seriusly need to get the number of the person who did the cake because seriusly the cake didn't just look good it taste heaps better!!!!!!

Note: By having one less snooze...I wake up 8 minutes earlier.....leave my house 10 minutes earlier.....reach work 15 minutes earlier than usual without speeding.....I leave work 10 minutes earlier (since me there so early).....and I wipe 20 minutes off my going home time....and reach home before 6...ok now me much happier!!!! Woo hoo

Did I tell you guys I got an Ipod Nano???? I guess not...anyways got it 2nd hand off Haji since he wanted to get rid of it...since I know it is new....I was like why not...atleast got something to entertain me at work....:)

Then came the drama.....ever since my first Ipod 4 years back I think..I've hated ITunes to the freaking max...seriusly no matter how much I try to understand it I just can't stand it...hate it hate it hate it....after I grumble and bitch I shall tell you guys how I manage to use my Ipod without ITunes (and trust me it is worth reading!! unless of course you are so in love with ITunes..but then trust me just read it!)

1) I HATE THE BLOODY SYNCHING: so if you accidentally delete something off the ITunes library then your Ipod gets affected....and if I acidentally put songs in there the Ipod gets it...then i have to go delete it...then deleting it is another bloody problem

2) ITunes is so bloody un-user friendly....and so pro-themselves!!! aka I hate the ITunes shop....hate how they try to con ppl into buying their stuffs...and all the useless things that comes with the interphase...arghhhh shit them!!!! you have to pay for games, you have to pay for music, you have to pay for album covers, you have to pay for video, or to quote my brother (who uses ITunes still) "You have to pay for everything!"

3) Is a bloody mac thingy and definately not PC thingy....I hate all macs..yeah sure they are cuter and slimmer and looks way more stylish (oh and I like their keyboard and mouse)...but once you turn the shit on.....I just hate it to the max.....I just feel like taking the oh so cute mouse and throwing it on the computer screen because it takes me heaps longer to figure anything out with a Mac....oh by the way I did fid out how to replicate the right click of a normal PC mouse on a Mac (press ctrl when you click)...I feel so proud I figured that out...took me 26 years to learn that!

4) Don't you hate it when you can't share the music on your Ipod with anyone else and you can't transfer music from someone else computer to your Ipod??!! I HATE IT...I'm cheap...I like stealing my music from my friends!!! and bloody ITunes don't support that! urgh

5) What is the point of having a video function when I still have to rely on other programs to convert the movies???

SO ANYWAYS.....

After wasting like 40 minutes googling, I found out that there are heaps of other programs out there where you can replace ITunes....but after looking at all of them and cursing the shits out of all of them...I found out that using WinAmp was so much more easier!!!!! Why?

1) there is no stupid advertisements.yes we are now no longer subjected to endless message about buy this, try this, download this crap shit

2) basically is so much more easier..takes me like 2 minutes to understand the whole thing!!! just put your songs in playlist...then just press send to ipod....and you just do this for watever music...plugging your ipod in does not lose any of the songs!!!!! since it doesn't sync with any library!!!!!! and you can even transfer the songs from your ipod to the computer!!! that is so bloody much more easier.....and save me so much more time!!!!! and not to mention atleast you can share your music with your friends!!!!

3) WinAmp has 3 windows by the way in their media library....one window shows the artist, another window the album and another window all the selected songs...and trust me is hell a lot more easier to edit your music on WinAmp compared with ITunes....stupid ITunes...stupid Apple...stupid Mac....

4) Unfortunately winamp does not convert the movie file either...but you can find heaps of other video converters on the net for free...most of them sucks by the way....so don't bother going to look for it....so far I think the most reliable one is the AVS Video Converter...although is not free...well it is free in a way but they leave a nice watermark on the video that is converted...aka when you are watching your video you see their logo (I counted..the watermark comes out for 1 minute every 4 minutes)...so if you guys are picky about your video then just go pay for the activated version.....DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT GO LOOKING FOR THE CRACK FOR IT!!!! Why?? because I was trying to download the crack for it and my computer manage to catch a virus...and now I have to go send that computer for repair....ah well another stupid thing Nicole does.....I'm so going back to Msia and find the full version CD of it!!!!! but for the time being I'm still happy being able to watch my drama anywhere now..haha....

And of course there are downside of using WinAmp and not ITunes....like my brother say you can't put album cover on the Ipod...(but then seriusly do i look like I care...is not like I stare at my Ipod when I listen to it!).....and you can't use their Genius function that helps find songs that sound similar to the song you are listening to (but again...if i dun like a song I just press shuffle!!! damn it!)

so yes in your face stupid ITunes....I found a way not to use you!!!!! muahahha and this going to make me happy for a long long time!!!! muahahha

Note: Just feel like complaining because I'm tired, grumpy, lack of sleep, lack of DS, lack of drama, lack of food, lack of everything but work!

Right going to be a short session of me grumbling...why? because I think I haven't subjected enough ppl to my grumbling (like just a few handful and I still feel like going on!)...god knows when it all started but in no chronological order

1) My backside got itchy again and was trying to download this stupid crack for this stupid program yesterday for my own stupid hiao purpose and my precious new (ok not so new...but better than my old one) laptop manage to get a virus....I deleted the virus and some other IMPORTANT Windows files so now my laptop is full of error messages......infact it get so overwhelmed by it that the laptop decided to shut itself down!!!!!! but don't worry I can still turn on my laptop under Safe Mode...hmmm come to think of it....do you think I can work under Safe Mode forever instead of going to fix my laptop????

2) I think me going to get a speeding ticket...well not think...but I'm sure since I was going to be late for work...and M2 is kinda like heaven for speeding...so anyways was actually trying to avoid collision with this asshole who was driving in front of me really fast (say 100km/h) and he suddenly brake like crazy...so me obviously had to swerve to another lane without slowing down..until of course I saw the bloody policeman with those speed check gun....urghh.....obviously i jam my brake and pray that it would be ok....but men talk about dangerous spot for that policeman...like obviously ppl going downhill would have more speed.....urghh...maybe i should have just bang that idiot!! urghhhh....anyways yeah I should take the bloody ticket with grace (NOT!) I might put up a fight...see how lah.....chances are it would come next year....hai...so from now on I shall wake up 8 minutes earlier (ONE LESS SNOOZE) just so I don't speed as much...:)

3) Manuscript got rejected...you would have thought I would be immune to it...but I guess I wasn't too upset over it since I found out I was the last author!!! hehe let's pray that stands and my old boss don't decide to shift authorship around...because I like being the last...haha my ego super high now lah....but kinda feel a bit restless...because I can't do any of the experiments and I have to wait for other ppl to do it!!! and I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!!!! ok ok I admit I have a slight O.C.D. towards my work and I hate it when things doesn't work and I can't figure out why...so imagine if other ppl is doing it and it can't work...the feeling is like 10x worse because I can't figure it out and I feel so arghh!!!!!! oh by the way I think this is the main reason why I can't really sleep at night...Worrying about experiments too much!!!!.....and that is why I am quite willing to go back on Friday nights and Saturday to do some experiments for free....but men my weekends are so gone and I hate it!!!!

4) From number 3...I guess me feeling a bit lost right now...not too sure whether I'm making the right move getting out of research and into the outside world and join a company...is not that I hate my job right now...I love it...the 8.30 to 5 is great (maybe not the 8.30 since i have to wake up so early!!!!)....but is so good to be able to tune out after 5.....but I feel like I'm still thinking and worrying about point number 3....is like having a job and worrying about another job...This is the scenario....I fell in love with research, we were together for 5 years, it was great and the sense of security was great, I got bored, I break up, I found love in a new job, don't feel very secure since it is new, research seems to be calling me back, new job seem to be getting a bit dry, mind seem to focus more on research and not new job, to feel secure or to feel insecure? I'm bloody confused...(SHIT THIS IS WORSE THAN HAVING A BOYFRIEND! or is it just me?!)

5) I can't seem to find time to correct my thesis and procrastinating like hell to actually finish it right now....can't seem to concentrate....that is why me writing this post...hai.....

6) Need I say when I'm most busy....there are ppl who keeps bugging the shits out of me???? I shall not name anyone here...but seriusly it came to the point they are now under my msn list as appear offline!! because they just can't stop talking about their same problems over and over and over again!!!!! like I would love to help them..but is obvious I can't help you guys since you guys bloody hell can't even help yourself....but must you torment me to your endless ranting??? (by the way imagine 2 months of the same old ranting....everytime go online they say the same shit!)....dun worry I'll put them back on normal listing after I'm over my grumbling period....(say 3 months?!)

Ok I've got more..but me think me shall stop here...I really should be getting back to work....urghh....this sucks men..finish work at 5pm...takes me 1 hour to get home....come home...still need to do work for old boss.....like this is not even my thesis yet!!! arghhhhh if only I can turn the clock to next year!!!!

After practising for the guinea pig, straight jump on to blinging up my next project...for cuzzie velverse!!!! yes dear going to be sending you a package soon...need to think of more stuffs to fill in it!!!! so far only half full!!!! me running out of ideas!! you want anything from Sydney??!!! any ideas anybody?!

I rate this 5/5...super bling power!!!! even my mum was shaking her head...but I know deep down inside she likes it..haha....hmmm so I guess I'm prepared for my big big project on blinging up a REAL SHOE! Now if only i can find the bling stickers!!!! the ones I use for cuzzie is the one she sent to me.....why why why is it so hard to find nice ones in Sydney???!!!!!

This mission took me 1 hour in total...quite easy I have to say....because it was bigger!! and yes also went through all the stickers to super glue them....so cuzzie no worries I'm sure it would be still in one piece when you receive it.....

Inspired by a show I was watching, I am adamant about blinging up a small keychain shoe and a matching pair of shoes for myself....but before I get to that stage I obviously need the practise first....not to mention more blingblings from dearie cuz!!!!

But since Morning Glory was selling the stuffs I might need super cheap...and it is Jeff's bday....(and I know he doesn't read this blog...or so I hope....)..the bunch of us are planning to buy him a pair of orange shoes...and I saw like this super cute mobile phone orange shoe dangling.....so decided might as well get it for him...AND NO I HAVE NO INTENTION OF BLINGING UP HIS BDAY SHOES!!!!!!!

First attempt I'll rate myself average...haha when I have time I'll show you the 2nd shoe I made for cuzzie dearie...that I rate it 5/5..haha super hiao!!!! but this one since for Jeff decided to make it less hiao???? haha (although now kinda regret!!!!)

Well firstly I got this from my lab buddies last week....so thought I might as well put it up here since it is kinda sweet of them....they gave me a photo book (lab book) with loads of compiled pics...Thanx guys!!! and I guess I should give a bit more thanks to Jeff because I know he got the hard work of compiling everything...:) really so sweet of you guys....make me miss the lab more now!!! And finally after months (no kidding) of waiting my parcel from velverse came...ok she said she sent me 2 and 1 for my brother....I only received one and still waiting anxiously for my other parcel to arrive now because it contains all the cds!!! (the whole collection of Sims 2!!!!) smart cousin of mine decided to seperate the package so that just incase one get confiscated the others would still be fine..haha let's pray the cds come!!! but the presents I've got so far...so cute...love the gorgeous shirts!!! Thanks p.c.i. DEON! but too bad I'm working now and can't wear it to work...ah well there is always the weekend!!!! it took me a while to figure out what was thank pink thing then I realise is shoelaces...haha....and of course my cousin knows me so well and earrings are always in the package..going to wear one tmr...so cute!! esp when it comes in a such a nice case..:) and the blings I knew was coming because I asked cousin to help me buy..wanted to bling up the converse key-ring shoe (and potentially the real converse shoe so I can have matching shoe and key-ring!)...and last but not least a surprise cupcake maker...this would seriusly be a challenge because I literally have to sew it together from cloth scraps!!! hey cuz look I made one already!!! thanx cecilia for buying a complete one for me last month..hahaThanks cuz and Deon for the lovely presents...muax muax!!!!

Jonathan actually got lucky...because he dislocated his knee and had to go for surgery he gets an extra present!!! hmph!!!!! Thanks cuz and Chan family for the present...love it so much...and Jonathan loves his too! (expect a phone call from him tmr!)

Ee Vern's Wedding

Note: I think I'm jinxed this week...I killed my precious portable hard disk with like all the newest dramas and movies in it (All 100GB of it kapoot).... luckily I have a copy of my PHD folder in both my computers, 2 other external HD and my thumb drive...looks like from now on I have to make sure I duplicate all my dramas too!!! and I was in the middle of watching this drama!!! arghhh... and the bad luck didn't even stop there...broke my favourite hair accessory which I was planning to use for a party next month which I can't find in Aus..urghhh...

After cuz Denise wedding in Penang, me had to frantically rush to the airport to catch my flight back to KL for another wedding.....what is with the 3rd of May and everyone deciding to get married on the same day??! I was actually planning to give Ee Vern's wedding a miss....but sometime in March I got a rather angry oversea call explaining how can I have the heart to miss a good friend wedding...haha...hmm that is quite a good point...afterall

- he was my carpool buddy back in IMU days (he drive I sleep...I think he drove my car more than I drove it!)

- he is my bitching buddy/yumcha buddy! (those late nights/early mornings at the mamak...crap I even remember bitching with him at 4am there!!! haha)....bitch more to him that anyone else that time ok!

- my scrabble nemesis/mahjong kaki...we actually kept record of who won the most (I think it was half half...crap I can't remember now)....remembered staying up till like 7am playing scrabble!! god we are such nerds!! Definately not my chess nemesis since I played with him twice and swear to God I'll never ever again play with national chess player!!!! (the longest I lasted was like 3 minutes?)

Ok so you get the gist of it and why I can't skip the wedding....so to the airport I went..and tips for future crazy ppl like me....bring a bloody jacket (which I didn't so imagine me with my dress in Penang airport and how much I was stared at!) and flat footwear to run (This I did...haha since I know I will need to do a bit of running and high heels is definately not my forte!)...oh and get great friends to come and pick you up!(Thanks Hui Yee and KW for fetching me from the airport!!!)...

By the time we got to the hotel it was 7.15pm...haha perfect timing!!!! dinner was suppose to start at 7.30...haha well done Nicole..perfect planning!!! hahaha (giving myself big pat on the back now!)....some more from airport to the hotel I was still frantically writing on the card, putting money in red packet, wearing the shoes, fixing myself up...:)

Got to catch up with all my old IMU buddies...finally manage to see Ingky after so many years apart....still same old fai cai guy!!!! didn't really manage to talk with Ee Vern though since he was busy and by the time he was free he was practically drunk!!! :) but then again I don't remember any guys coming out of the dinner not drunk?? afterall there was a counter serving what seems to me like unlimited Chivas (we can't expect anything less from Ee Vern now can we?)....infact most of us actually stayed back till really late and it was fun watching everyone drinking like there is no tmr!!! ;)

Was a great wedding..and I'm really happy that I didn't miss it....and thanks Hui Yee and KW for fetching me from airport and even sending me all the way back home when is totally out of the way!! muaks muaks...and you know I'll definately come for your wedding no matter what!!! you are definately worth the ticket back!! oh and thanks Ingky for picking me up the next day and accompanying me go shopping and eating!!! was great catching up with you after so long!!! Though the bunch of us (Ee Vern, Hui Yee,, KW, Ingky, Cammie) manage to catch up few days later over dinner and supper....guess that was rather a short time...promise you next time I go back KL will spend more more more time with you guys alright???? and plenty of notice of course..haha :) muax!!

Denise Wedding part 2

Note: Spent half a day helping sister to move....she has so much crap!!!!!!!!Definately would be sleeping like a baby tonite...

The following day after the pre-wedding dinner at Ipoh, we all headed up north to Penang for the church wedding. Thankfully there was a one day gap in between because I don't think I could have kept my eyes open..I was practically sleeping the entire journey to Penang...all I remembered was waking up for lunch!! So after a short church rehearsal, we then went to the resort and just chill the day away....all I remembered was us sleeping really really late that night....infact i was pretty sure I only had like 3-4 hours of sleep before the big day!!!! and a big day it was because I not only have one wedding to attend...after Denise wedding I'm suppose to catch a flight back to KL for Vern's wedding!!!

Anyways we were woken up at 6am to get ready...extremely early for me!!!! luckily all that was needed for me to do was to sit on the chair and let other ppl do the work on my face and hair!!! haha....and again thanks to my dear cuz Denise for paying for it..haha...

Church ceremony was at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Butterworth....why this place??? because it is the place where "piew jie fu" Jason got baptised and confirmed..so it holds a very sentimental value to him..church is seriusly big!!! and quite grand inside I have to say compared to some of the other churches I know :)(note to Jason: see I did say nice things about your church..i seriusly can't find a picture of the exterior to put up lah!) ..and of course with such a beautiful church as a background and me looking the so nice I of course didn't mind posing for the cameras..haha...:) but I have to admit that I seriusly didn't manage to take much pictures that day...since there was a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER, I thought I should atleast sit back and enjoy ma!! I have to admit though I really like Jason's touch on the wedding car, very unique...and the car was so cute!!!! especially with the Mickey and Minnie Mouse!!!!! (Denise's favourite!)

Unlike other weddings, Jason and Denise decided on a luncheon rather than a dinner (THANK GOD!!!) at the Safira Resort (where we were staying)..if it had been a dinner I seriusly don't know which wedding to choose to go to!!!!!! and since I was not needed to take photographs, I was of course happily eating and replacing the food that I should have eaten in Ipoh!...too bad no crispy piglet skin...hai....but it was yum still...loved the prawns!!!! oh oh and I had 2 bowls of shark fin soup again..haha...and the ice-cream at the end was so damn good!!!! had like so many different flavours including red bean, melon, corn and durian...I was so happy!!!! but of course nothing beats that special acknowledgement of me from Jason in his weddding speech . so flattered!!! :)

Finally Denise and Jason wedding has ended...now for the dash to the airport in Penang island!!!! My flight is at 5pm and 3.30pm I was still at Butterworth!!!!! and for this i really need to thank Jessica (Jason's sister) and Kae Cin for driving me to the airport!!! remembered I was seriusly hyperventilating and stressed!!!

Finally after months of promise to my cousin Denise, I finally found time to compile all the pictures from her pre-wedding dinner at Ipoh....Proud of me yet Denise??? hehe..I'll try to put up the pictures of your actual wedding day in the church with the lunch reception soon ok...(give me a few months..hehe)

As seen, one of my closest cousin got married....from velverse post, you can see that Denise, velverse, me and my sis were very close since a long long time ago...indeed is fair to say we grew up together and see spend most of our school holidays together although we stayed so far from each other....and now finally one of us is getting married!!! so to my new "piew jie fu" Jason , welcome to the family!!! I've known you for like what? 9 years?? so long already!!!!! :)

It was good to be back for the wedding...saw all my relatives which I seldom see...parents was too busy to go back...so I became their "representative" (although I had to pay my own air ticket! hmph)....didn't manage to get much done in Ipoh except for eating (Ipoh "taugeh" chicken is still the best!) because we were seriusly always rushing I feel...we only spent 2 nights here because the church wedding was at Penang on the 3rd!! But it was all good....

Wedding dinner food was great though I didn't get to eat much because I was supposed to be helping out to take pictures!!!!! even take picture of food no time because all the food was just left on my plate!!! and I practically gobbled it down!!! there was that much talked about piglet crispy skin which I had like 3 pieces only!!! urghh....well atleast I manage to drink 2 bowls of shark fin soup...:) and practically filled my tummy up with the dessert served because no one else was eating it and that was the only food left for me to eat!!! (I had like 6 dessert buns!)....next time I go for weddings I'm sitting down and eating to my heart/stomach content!!!! alcohol also never drink!!! hai......

Anyways congrats cuz on the wedding...and thanks for hiring someone to do the make up and my hair for me...:) much much appreciated!!! I'm so bloody hopeless when it comes to these things!

I should have blogged about this earlier but was busy watching moonlight resonance. Finished the whole series in one weekend. I really should be doing something more productive like writing but stuff it. Weekend was way too good.

Oh anyways brother out of hospital and is well and kicking. Still on crutches but definately as bratty as ever. Picture taken on his hospital bed which i sharing with him. Jealous yet joyce? Got more pics later i go show you.

On another note, started full time work today. No more on msn all the time. I miss that! Miss the lab already. Oh wait just the ppl there not the work or the monday meetings. Miss the coffee session and the gossips by the corridor. Hai. Currently having lunch after shopping during lunch time. I love my phone! Can blog and eat. I'm so full of Crap.

Remember few weeks back when i was homebound and slave to the brat who dislocated his knee? Well after 3 weeks or so of examination, scans, and doctors, it was finally decided he needed surgery. The poor old dear has officially become the first one among his siblings to undergo surgery (hey atleast now he can brag to everyone he did something his sisters haven't ;-))

Surgery was suppose to be at 9am. But thanks to the lovely australia hospital system his surgery only started at 3pm. And this by the way is a private hospital and not public! Pity the poor boy who didn't have anything to eat since the night before. But anyways he is alright now. Still a bit groggy but awake atleast. And he said to me "i love you" make me so happy only. Love you too dear and wait for me to drink those sugar loaded bird nest ok? You can't possibly finish 6 bottles ok!

Note: Next week would be my last official week in the lab before full time in the new company. Procrastinating a lot lately so decided I should atleast spend some time on my poor old neglected blog.....Be warned though this post is quite full on....of me, velverse and a tiny bit of Denise :)

The day was 2nd July 2007 when velverse discovered this awesome feature on her Nikon camera...16 multiple shots in 1 function....OMG it was so bloody cool!!! and you know me and cuz lah.....absolutely in love with ourselves...:D decided to compile some of the nicer looking ones because I was inspired by cuz lovey dovey post with Deon which in turn was inspired by my previous post of my DS..see how much inspiration we give one another??? :)

These first attempts by velverse and me were when we got bored waiting in line at Ocean Park for some ride which I forgot what....(that was how we were keeping ourselves entertained)

As you can see there are some blurred pictures....hey it wasn't easy ok!!!! try thinking of 16 different poses in less than a few seconds!!! and not just the thinking part the execution have to be dead perfect with the camera snapping too!!!! My brain can multi-task but not that quick!!!!

The next 2 shots were taken while waiting at Macau Airport for our flight back to KL....I think the shot of Denise was actually impromptu but we were asking her smile smile smile....:) I think this has got to be the most Denise ever smiled all at once...haha (with the exception of her wedding of course)

I think of all the 16 shots in 1 we took, the shots below have got to be the best velverse and I ever achieved...some blurred ones but atleast we look good in the not so blur ones...I think....:)

And after 1 year gap of not practising......I think I just got way worse....definately need to practise!!!! Ah well there is always next year....:)

Hmmmmm come to think of it I put 8 pictures here with 16 different shots...OMG that is like record for me blog...haha 16x8 (I'm not bothered to use my brain or find a calculator for what is the answer) pictures in one post!!!!

Alan In Sydney

Two days back when I thought it would be a boring Friday bumming at home, suddenly got a call from Alan whom I've known since my IMU days long long time ago....I think the last time I saw his was like 2 years ago back in KL??.....his parents were visiting him from Msia and he brought them all the way from Brisbane to Sydney....and i was like you come to Sydney only call me??? shouldn't it be before you come to Sydney???? well it is better than the last time when he called me few hours before he boarded the plane from Sydney....:)

So there goes my bumming plans......went to city and met up with Alan and his parents...couldn't really recognise his parents since I only saw them once or twice last time (although I did stay at bunk at his place once)...and the only memories I have of his parents was that of his mum whacking his dog (which incidentally was named Nicole) for being naughty (yeah one of those moments I wish my name was not Nicole).....went to Lindt Cafe since Alan insisted on going there....after that just brought them around the city and walk around Circular Quay.....hey I couldn't think of where else to bring them at night ma!!!!! but it was good seeing that Alan is still the same old...atleast he lost some of the "english" accent though he seems to be picking up the "australian" accent...haha and yes he is still as "fai cai" as last time... ;)

Sweet Pink Birthday!

Note: Thanks so much everyone for the bday wishes and for being such a great sports dressing in pink....and thanx to those back in Msia too!! but seriusly remember Msia and Sydney 3 hours difference!!! And my darling cuz bday post for me on her blog......make me close to tears already!!!!

Yes it is the time of the year again when i can't help but feel old....this year though have to say didn't really want to celebrate since I got so much on my plate...then I heard about my birthday present...and i was like urmmmm ok that does it i'm celebrating because I want the presents!! haha i know I'm bloody cheap lately!!

Decided since I really need to write thesis and can't afford so much timeouts and it is the good food month in Sydney so why not celebrate by going for one of those yummy, fattening, sugar loaded Sugar Hit!!!! And anyways it is only $20 for like 3 desserts and a wine...mmmmm..and being the no fruit/veggie diet me, I had to choose the one with no fruits and all chocalate place!! :D (although think about it how can anyone resist white chocalate cheesecake??) Anyways decided on Sofitel Wentworth Hotel....the verdict??? heaps better than the Intercontinental last year!! although the presentation wasn't as WOW, but trust me it tasted great!!! personally I loved the white chocalate cheesecake (and so did Deasy because we both had 2 helpings of it since some ppl didn't like it...we can't let cheesecake go to waste now can we?)....the Chocolate Macaronade was perfect soft and glueey....for me the Chocolate Assiette (chocolate mousse) was less tasty for me...it still taste great but well I was hoping for something sweeter...personal preference here....the Brown Brothers Muscat was excellent...but that is also because it is bloody sweet and I'm a sucker for sweet stuffs...the Hennessy VSOP Cognac was super strong and bitter...absolutely not my cup of tea..

And if you guys are wondering what was with the pink...dunno..the day before my bday I suddenly decided to have a dress code since it is MY DAY!!! haha....I have to say I've got some seriusly sporting friends (with someone purposely going out to buy a bright pink shirt for the occassion)!!! love you guys! muax muax!!!! Enjoyed myself heaps...and the presents?? haha love them all!!!!

Holga Camera, cookbooks and baking utensils....absolutely useful stuffs!! :D and the cupcake cookbook...my god the cupcakes there are shocking!! but so freaking cool...just have to wait after my PHD....and of course my Starting Work Package from my darling sister Joyce and Ricky....thanx for proving I've been an absolute slacker when comes to fashion and cosmectic sense...and now can someone please teach me how to use a mascara?????

1. Throwing Away Old Job And Landing A New Job! Got myself a job! yes yes finally...I'm officially a Science Writer & Marketing Associate..working part-time though for the moment (one day a week...i know i'm so slack).....but is until November...when I'm suppose to start full-time...so yes big big big deadline for my thesis..hence total lack of blog post....but after my thesis I should be way free...after all I manage to score a proper 9-5 job!!!! trust me there is no such thing as OT in this place..happy!!!!! but kinda sad..tmr is my last day as the Radiation Officer....so yes all the radiation stuffs in UNSW WW Building has nothing to do with me anymore!!! muahahaha so yes now is the time when major stuff-ups can occur....just don't tell me!!! :D

2. My Snails.. got some new snails to help clean my fish tank....but the fish tank still requires me to clean it while my snails seems to be having a go at each other....hmph!

3. Mummy's Bday!!!! : Don't u guys think my parents look so sweet?????

4. The Lucky Mabel!!! since I know you read my blog (or should be), thought I'll be nice and wish you Bon vayage and don't forget to get me nice presents from UK yar!!!! expensive ones too!!!! I MEAN IT!!!!! see you again say in a year or 2 lah..see if me senang come to UK come cari you...

Best In Singapore, JB & Batam Found the complete series of Phua Chu Kang online (most of it on YouTube...and some at Crunchyroll).....very entertaining!!!! make me feel kinda homesick though....haha been degrading some brain cells while writing my thesis..but then again even without watching it my IQ level seem to have been going downhill really fast thanks to a certain someone in my lab who successfully made me speechless for once...(due to mor-lai-ness)

6. ShiSha..Lebanon & Beyond at Randwick....Good lebanese food...quite cheap if go in a group...and unlimited breads....hope to update about the place soon...but the shisha ain't too good I have to say....so does not taste like apple...tasted kinda like star anise or cinnamon...basically not that good....

7. Kaki Lima CafeLocated in Kingsford, owned by Malaysians Malay...authentic nasi lemak.....quite ok kuih-muih (the onde onde and the kuih seri muka was good)...and MY GOD THEY HAVE BANDUNG(a mix of rose syrup and condense milk...aka diabetes heaven)!!! *Definately in Nicole's good book!!!

8. New Members to The Tan Clan Thanks to Joyce we have 4 cows at home..I can't remember the names but I know there is a Moo-Moo and a Su-Su (malay word for milk)....you might think it is a waste....but the smart old me found good use of it for........

Note: I'm seriusly so bored of writing!!! Starting my part-time work this Friday!! Can't wait!!!

After I'm Done With My PHD:

1) I'm deleting everything ever to do with research from my computer!! I'll throw away all the papers, get rid of all the results, remove all those PCR/Western Images.........ok ok I'll burn everything to a disc first just in case...then i'll get rid of it!! I'm GOING TO START A NEW LIFE!!!

2) I'm watching tv day in and day out...and catching up on the dramas!!!

3) I'm going to average 10 hours sleep a day!

4) I'm going to finish the cross stitch I've been doing for 1 year and frame it up!!!!

5) I'm going to play more computer games, playstation games and DS....*watch out Jonathan I'm going to beat you!!!*

6) I'm going to plan my next holiday!! muahahha...Bangkok/KL/Taiwan here I come!!!!!

Arghhh why can't the time move faster??? Why can't someone write my thesis for me??? WHY WHY WHY?!??!!?!

Food Hopping Ceremony #2

Note: Watch the video below for the supposed "Urinal Etiquette" Remember a few months back when me and 3 other friends decided to go on a food hopping thingy?? We finally manage to meet up again and went for the 2nd round!!! wooo hoo.....and this time we recruited more people for this fun fun fun event.....first of we have Zamil (aka Haji "Handsome") and Jody (as long as she is not referred to as Mrs Fong you are in her good books) :) First stop for the night was Ayam Goreng 99..why this place? the food is good...chicken is big...and is cheap!!!! one chicken (either breast or thigh) for $5.50 plus a plate of rice $1.50 (plain) or $3 (coconut rice).....I got the ayam bakar (BBQ chicken)...maybe I should not have ordered a plate of rice for myself...:)

Second stop was Arthur's Pizza....we just love this place!!! pizza is greasy, unhealthy but yet so good!!! The Australian is what I would recommend...that extra egg on top just makes it so yummy!!!!! I didn't eat that this time...but Jacinta and Jody shared one since they weren't at Ayam Goreng and they were hungry!!!! Zamil, Thuan, Su Yin and I got a large Marinara to share since we didn't want meat (majority ruled so what can I say?) and veggies (haha is a give and take situation)...still good...the cheese was excellent!!!!!!! We met Cecilia and Jimmy too here so that would explain an additional photo..:)

Third stop and last stop of the day was Sugar Plum Cafe for icecream....we did have a 4th stop in mind but by the time we were done with Sugar Plum it was already 10pm and all of us had plans the next day...ah well....and it is good to finish the night off with dessert!!! Below is a video from Sugar Plum..don't ask why we talk about these sort of things during meal time...the conversation we had at Arthur's Pizza was way worse!!!!

231 Cupcakes Galore

I think it was a month ago when Heng Khuen came and we were at Manly looking at this cupcakes from one of the stalls around...then I was like "Hmmm I'm sure I can make 100 different kinds of cupcake" So after weeks of delay......and seeing Heidi seems to be so free....I've decided to recruit her and my brother for my 100 cupcake challenge

So how in the world did we ended up with 231 instead of 100????

Baking the cupcakes was a simple enough thing..30 minutes and we have 231 cupcakes ready for decoration....I have to say sitting down on a table and decorating and chatting was actually quite fun!! but thinking of 231 different type was so difficult!!!!!!!!! but atleast I used a bit to spell out my blog address...:D:D *happyz* me seriusly slept with a big grin on my face!!! Cool shit right the cupcakes??? :D

Giant Schnitzel & Schnapps

Note: Arghhh I stayed up to watch the Olympics opening ceremony just to see the "stars" singing...and Australia never even show it...kik guai sei me ah!!!! BTW did anyone notice how small the Malaysian team is??? hai.....malu-nya!!!!!

I don't think I'll be going back to the Bavarian Bier Cafe for a while.....all this giant sausages and giant schnitzel nights....I'm feeling incredibly more giantly fat now!!!

So the same bunch of us made out way again to Bavarian Bier Cafe for their Tuesday Schnitzel Night...$15 bucks for a huge pork Schnitzel (yup not halal) and a schnapps...quite worth it I have to say...because I was feeling so full after that!!! Infact I was quite surprised i finished it!!! haha..but the winner of the night was definately Jeff....he finished it super duper quick...even faster than Lionel....hai I guess big mouth helps!! :) the rest all never finish!!! sheesh....and no Ning finishing the pork and not the crumbs is not considered finishing!!!! talk about a waste of the best part of schnitzel!!!!!! Unfortunately the only available schnapps that night was just apple, peach and butterscotch schnapps...I got the butterscotch and that was yum just because is super sweet....the apple and peach ones were just so so....

Personally, I much preffered the sausage rather than the schnitzel.....but I wish they could just make the sausages a little bit longer..I wasn't really full full from that....

Joyce came home yesterday night to dig out some old pics for her work and since I had nothing else better to do, I joined in the fun and look at the old photo albums. Boy talk about going down memory lane...infact we were even checking out some of my parents old photos before they were married (haha and I thought I was naughty!)

Then I stumble upon my old "famous" burger picture which my parents nicely parade and show to our entire clan....supposedly I was that fat and my face that round...and me and that burger seems to be related....hai.....

ps I even stumble upon this picture taken with my favourite cousins...:) I totally forgot about this picture....haha Denise and Mandy....what you think of the pic??? boy we really changed so much!!!

Sausage Fever

It started with an email forwarded to me by Jeff......$20 for half a metre long sausage with mash potato and a glass of beer at Bavarian Beer Cafe.....woooo half a metre long....50cm.....of meat!!!! of course must not waste this wonderful opportunity!!!!!

So a bunch of us made our pilgrimage for sausage heaven to the Bavarian Bier Cafe chain on O'Connell Stree in the city...truthfully speaking I don't think anyone of us actually went through the menu...we just went straight for the sausages.....and the beers!!!! Cecilia and I decided for a sweet Peach beer, Estella ordered the cherry beer, Lionel got the beer with just a hint of caramel and the girls took charge of ordering the beer for the non-able to consume alcohol Ning, Jeff and Jimmy (the mango beers were really good..thanks boys!!!)..and Jeff got the "free for designated driver" non-alcoholic beer....

The sausage was marvellous!!! perfecto!!! nice and crispy on the outside while soft and moist inside.....super duper good!!!! infact some of us were contemplating on going for seconds....while one of us (thou shall not be named) did not even finish her sausages!!!!! (hmph!) but no we didn't go for seconds....we ordered desserts instead....Lionel got the cheese platter (consist of 3 different cheese with crackers and bread).....weird...just not used to seeing cheese being consumed for dessert.....not used to the idea.....but every culture is different I guess.....the rest of us shared 2 servings of the dessert mix platter consisting of apple strudel, sticky date pudding and bread and butter pudding...with one small little cup of vanilla icecream....I have to say this was one of the most satisfying dinner for a while....maybe I should come here once a month????

A "Smelly" Affair

Went out for dinner last week for Edwin's birthday and manage to taste the beautiful durian sticky rice of Chat Thai in the city...the taste of the fresh durian....make me feel like just driving to the city now and ordering another plate!!!

I think I'm just a typical Malaysian.....love love love durians!!!! last trip I went back I think I went just a little bit nuts on the durians!! I was averaging like twice a week eating durian/durian made products!!! there was the trips looking for the durians in PJ, KL, Penang and Langkawi, and once found standing by the roadside just munching on it.......then there was that special durian place my lovely cousins brought me to at PJ New Town for a go at the durian bomb and the durian tart....arghh missing KL so much now!

And no those chinese names are not our real chinese names but to those who doesn't know how to read chinese (and because I needed help to even write the chinese words)

Heng Khuen In Sydney!

Note: WYD is over....didn't get as many things done as I was hoping.....but all is good..got a few post to update once I get pictures from Jeff (hint hint)......dreading to go back to work though!!! arghh....ooh and parents bought a new family car today....Toyota Rav4...can't wait to get my hands on it..but don't worry my darling car...you are still ze best!!!!

After let me see 3 years or so of "I will come to Sydney one day to visit you", Heng Khuen finally came!!!! and no it wasn't for the WYD...phewwww....or I would have maybe avoided him for a while (I'm just kidding alright)..didn't exactly know where to bring him around....after all is WYD and every single road that I usually use is closed...but luckily Heng Khuen suggested Sydney Fish Market..pheewwww....so first stop the good old fish market..not much change food still the same...I just love the oysters!! (and no we didn't smell like fish after that...i hope)....Heng Khuen wanted to go to the Sydney Aquarium too but I wasn't really interested...been there done that and seriusly not intention of doing that again....but in the end we decided to go to Manly Beach...after all I'm considered a north side person now so I might as well explore my territory a bit..First stop was North Head for the scenery and a bit of camwhoring...and after that Manly Beach for some chillout session and coffee break....short relaxing tour...but was good to be able to catch up/gossip with him again...

Just because I know you would be reading this Heng Khuen (a positive comment saying how nice I am, how great I was etc etc is expected off you by the way), I took the time off a lot of stuffs just to update this post (and also show my hiao pics and your glamour shots a bit)...nice right me??? :D oh and please email me your email address so I can send the link of the pictures to you!!! lazy to call/sms you...:D

Kaiseki Cooking Class @ Kei's Kitchen, Chatswood

Note: World Youth Day is fast approaching..and I'm cursing every part/side/up/down of it......except of course the part where I'm using the word W.Y.D to get days off work....:)

After months of waiting, Cecilia and I finally manage to get a spot to go for the Kaiseki Cooking Class offered by Kei's Kitchen. Kaiseki is actually a tradional japanese multi course meal and since I love to eat...and sometimes cook....we thought we would give their winter menu a go. Kei's Kitchen by the way is a privately own thing and is ran by Kei and her daughter Masako at their home in Chatswood. Each class only accomodates a maximum of eight people and spots are kinda hard to get...infact Cecilia and I waited since beginning of the year for a spot....

In Kaiseki meal (after I wiki-ed it) consist of usually 9 course. But in this cooking class we learnt 7 (which is not too bad although more would have been welcomed). Since we were so busy cooking differently and coorperatively, I've decided to list the dishes down as according to the order they are suppose to be consumed. Sakizuke (The Appetizer) we had was soy milk tofu. I find this extremely yummy and it is very healthy (yes nicole is actually being healthy)....After the sakizuke, there is the Wanmono (seasonal broth) which consisted of chicken balls with grated sweet turnip and lemon. This I found 2nd best of all....it was warm, the chicken was tender, and the broth was just heavenly (food for thought: the broth is decorated in such a way to resemble broth).....next was the Mukozuke (cold dish/sashimi) and we had tataki style tuna with sesame sauce...I found the sesame sauce very flavoursome and strong but it really went well with the tuna. Our Yakimono (grilled dish) was ocean perch marinated in saikyo miso and grilled shallot and this I have to say was the best of all!!!! and it not because I was the one who was watching out for it, but the fish was seriusly so tasty and it was cooked extremely perfectly (by me..hehe)....after the yakimono we are suppose to have the Takiawase (simmered dish) and we cooked Hiryuuzu (fried and simmered tofu balls with prawn and vegetables)...this was really good too...full of flavour due to the simmering...definately a must do on my dinner table soon...the Sunomono (pickled dish) we had was red and white pickled salad....me like this the least...but as usual I'm just biased because I don't eat veggies...:)..the last dish was Gohan (final rice) and since it was winter we had steamed sushi..and owww the rice...perfect!!!

Ever since I decided to put up a label for idiotic drivers of Sydney, I realised I'm meeting less on the road...Until today that was....but then again is not an idiotic car driver..is a bloody freaking truck!!! and can I say a huge truck that was like super long and big...and bloody freaking noisy to the point i swear to god the bloody driver must be deaf....

So what did BOSS3 (yes that truck got its own customized plate number) do that pissed Nicole off??? Main offence would be making so much bloody noise it was disturbing me listening to my song!!!! Urghhh.....and it was bloody hell in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel going super fast and taking up other lanes...damn bloody dangerous ok!!!! and because it is big it started to swerve here and there and break all the bloody white lines on the road just so it can go faster....luckily no accidents occured..but then is just because it was so big that everybody was avoiding it like crazy....

But seriusly does anyone in Sydney know what number to call to complain about big trucks like this??? Big trucks like that should be banned from the tunnel...is bloody dangerous

Busy Rock & Rolling

Me admit lack of post is due to busy busy playing my ds...:) I did spend time writing my thesis.....although i think I should spend more time on my thesis rather than the game...but it is so fun!!!!!

Got meself the Guitar Hero: On Tour for ds game last week..super duper fun...kinda ex though....$98 for it...and from last week till now I haven't even finish the game yet..but I think me giving up already..I can finish the easy, medium and barely the hard level...I think the expert level is just beyond me now....Game is kinda fun and you can even play the vs part with another player...either you co-op with them and finish the game or you can even duel each other and attack each other...for eg setting someone's guitar on fire or cutting their guitar string...:) fun fun fun.....so been playing a lot with Zam...haha make that me trashing him!!! I think the practise helps.....

Ford Fiesta ACD 60Y

Now that I have moved house and am driving heaps more....I think my road rage is getting from bad to worse.....but then again I think there are just heaps of incompetent drivers around....

Take for example Mr Bald Head who drives a Ford Fiesta ACD 60Y...who this morning literally just swerve into my lane at the Sydney Harbour Tunnel with no signal whatsoever..And worse of all swerve when there is obviously not enough space for him to move in making me having to jam my brake when I'm travelling at 75km/h...freaking b******!!!!! disturbing my concentration listening to my hubbie's singing!!! urghh......and this Mr Bald Head who literally thinks he is a F1 driver not only pissed me off...he pissed some other cars too..because he did the same thing to a 4WD a few minutes later...luckily no accidents happen...but hope you have diarrhoea the rest of today...stupid idiot!!!!

I'm spending 30 minutes of today..........

I know I have been missing in action for a while....and a lot of you have been constantly asking me why.....but seriusly I haven't been as free as last time...ever since I got back from my holidays about 3 weeks ago...I've been constantly on the move....to run it all down...

First week was more to the busy getting ready my posters for the IVBM conference....to those of you who don't know it stands for International Vascular Biology Meeting.....or in layman terms...the convention of geeks where "smart" geeks attend this conference and talk about nothing else but vascular heart disease......so yes that brings me to second week where I spent my whole week in that conference...and another conference dinner (yes 2 conference in one week!)....it came to the point I didn't even go home!!!!! I stayed in a hotel nearby!!!! see how pathetic that is?!

Last week has been a bit more free..but I'm actually starting to write my thesis right now...yes I want to graduate from this PHD and get on with my life....so you guess it right..this blog is going to be neglected for a tiny bit longer......but I'll try sneaking in a post here and there...esp if I have anything hiao to report...:)

And this is how I spent 30 minutes of today!!! :)

Holiday Update/Summary

Note: I'm back!!! but seriusly kinda stressed up with work....had to finish up my poster presentations for the conference in 2 weeks time, finish up a review paper, start another review paper, finish up experiments, write thesis etc......where where where am I going to be able to fit in watching all the DVDs I brought back (if you think I'm behind on my blog posts, I still haven't finish the DVDs I got since last year!!!!)

After one month of absolute no work (wait maybe 1 day out of the one month I shockingly did do work), I'm as usual in my depression mode....but no complains this time...I throughly enjoyed my time and I have to say it was really one whole entire month in Malaysia....absolutely well spent!!!!!

Main reason why I went back would be because of the weddings!!! of course I can't miss my own cousin wedding right??? (actually I have missed a lot...but Denise is special ok!!!!) yes my close cousin is now married and I can now call Jason my "piew jie fu" (cousin-in-law)..I can see him cringing everytime I call him that now...haha......and not to forget my great friend Ee Vern......like how can miss his wedding???? even when I was hinting at missing it due to the wedding being on the same day as my cousin, I actually got an oversea call from him calling me fowl names and cursing me..... :) but hey I made it (although seriusly I really have to scold him for making me having to jump into a plane with my dress right after my cousin wedding...it was so embarassing!!!!) but it was all worth it...got to catch up with heaps of old mates...ahhhh the good times......

And if you think I would miss not going to work and my work mates for a month...talk about being so wrong......I had my lab buddies come visit me!!!! muahaha.....first I had Jeff and Lionel coming to KL for the weekend....Mary came after that for 2 weeks and talk about having a nice tour around Malaysia....and after a bit of drama (ahem as in missing flights) Cecilia and Jimmy finally came to the "Land of ConMen" (there was some issues with the Malaysian Bengs selling playstation)...ah well.....and MIKEY CAME TOO!!!! Air Asia Rocks!!!

Will update in details when I'm free...maybe after the conference???? I hope?????

Antonetta's Big Day Finally......

Note: 3 post in one day is seriusly breaking all of chroniclesofnicole record....proud of me yet?! I'm so sleeping after this....

So after the night of the dual birthday celebration, next day couldn't really sleep in because I had a wedding to attend at 1pm (hey sleeping in to me means until 3pm!)....this was the long awaited wedding of antonetta (yeah remember the genital cake?)..

Wedding ceremony was held in one of the oldest church in Sydney: St Benedicts Church in Chippendale....i was actually surprised parking wasn't too hard to find..and it was free!!! pheew....after 10 minutes of waiting and taking pics, the bride finally arrived in a horse drawn carriage...ok this is too over the top already...really like royalty dy!!! but she looks so gorgeous there!!! The ceremony went on for about an hour before we all went outside to see the bride and groom release the pigeons...and we others release our little butterflies....so cute!!!!

Because the reception was another few hours ahead..i decided to go home between the ceremony and the reception to unpack some stuffs....and also conveniently get a lift to Luna Park to save on parking...:) Antonetta and Julio really planned it all so well...I was like scratching my head on how I was going to find my way to the ballroom until I saw the various signs to point me to it....and it was located all around Luna Park...so absolutely organised....and the view?!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! esp when I was there during sun set....just so beautiful!!!! so envy Antonetta

Antonetta and Julio took quite long to reach the reception...but it wasn't all too bad...we were nicely fed with yummy entrees (mini pizzaz, fresh peeled prawns and raw oysters)....yes it was all good...after the bride and groom arrived and cut the beautiful cake (horse drawn too...and 3 different flavours!), the food started getting served...Didn't take much photos of that...was too dark in the room...and not to mention on every table there was a camera to use....so i was the one busy snapping with that camera...but trust me the food was great!!!!!! and the night wasn't all too formal actually...we were entertained by a pseudo Michael Jackson, Julio dancing with pseudo Michael Jackson, the romantic dance Antonetta and Julio shared......and of course after that most of us started going to the dance floor and dance!!!! Beautiful wedding for a great couple...Wish you guys all the best!!!!! muax.......

Mary & Cecilia Birthday Bash

Due to extreme busy schedule, we decided to have a late bday celebration for Cecilia and an early birthday celebration for Mary together..save time...and double the fun...:) unfortunately the bash had to be on the day I moved house....so yup I was a bit zoned out (not to mention extremely hungry!)...I had to suck up to Jeff for one week just so he would be the designated driver so I don't need to worry about RBT...as usual our dear Cecilia was the latest to arrive (I think 30 minutes after supposed meeting time?) hai...talk about making an entrance

Dinner was at Belgian Beer Cafe...most of us ordered their famous mussels....so yummy....however there are some people who refuse to follow the crowd and ordered different dishes *cough* Vivian *cough* Jeff (although the belgian sausages Jeff had was quite yummy too...)

After the extremely long dinner, half of us decided to follow the plan for the night which was to go clubbing while some of us decided to ditch and fly aeroplane....hai...ended up only Cecilia, Mary, Simon, Sian, Jeff and I who went clubbing...luckily Jimmy was there with a few other ppl...clubbing was fun I have to say (after so many years of not going)...and going back to Tank did bring back some fond memories (and unpleasant ones)....but all was good...and Cecilia and Jimmy looked so cute dancing on the stage with the pole...forgot to take picture of those....darn!!! and supposed 4 girls were "eye-ing" Jeff the whole night....guess I miss that too...darn!!! ...and I even miss the part where Simon went up to the stage and dance with Jimmy...darn!!!didn't club very long this time...left before midnight....after a long day of moving...I have another long day the next day....talk about a busy weekend....

Note: One more week before KL and I'm falling sick!! crap!!! going to drown myself with drugs! Must not be sick!!!! Cannot be sick!!! Must hiao maximus

Last week has just been a hideous week...had to pack the old house and move into the new house...my parents got a place across the Harbour Bridge and now I'm officially a Sydney North-sider....arghhh....now instead of the normal 10 minute trip to work...I'm now taking an average of 20-30 minutes per trip....and the $3 toll a day!!! arghhhhhhhh.....

Still in the process of unpacking here..going pretty slow now that I'm sick....and also a bit of too sick of unpacking....finally got the internet working (after 1 and a half hour of screaming on the phone killing all the call operators of TPG)..but is all good now..infact I think the connection is heaps better than iprimus...not to mention the wireless reception is awesome here....doesn't seem to be any black zone yet...(yep I've checked the toilets too)

Come to think of it...any north sydney ppl around here??? I need ideas on where to eat!!!!! I haven't found a McDonald anywhere around me yet!!!!! I need help!!! and please no further than Chatswood ok!!! I'm still trying to find my way around here.....

Welcome Home Dad

Note: It is going to be a looonnnnnggggg week ahead....packing, moving house, writing and a wedding...and my boss is away for a week....I should be slacking!!!!!

After let me see 7 years of not living in the same house with my dad, my dad has finally decided to retire from his job and come to Sydney to live....and I have to say THANK GOD!!!!!!!! finally I think my mum needs company....my brother definately needs a "male" figure...and most importantly time to brainwash my dad back to normal and forget India (not that I have anything against it!!!)....for eg

1) Indian slang: my dad kinda picked up some indian slang with his 5 years there...and he is even shaking his head at times when he speaks!!!! need to try and get rid of it....can't stand it!!!!!!!!

2) Indian smell: seriusly everytime my dad comes back to Sydney for a holiday, everything of his smells indian!!!! from the luggage to clothes...usually takes my mum a few days of washing and airing to get rid of the smell...infact holding that booklet shown above has the smell too...going to burn it once I finish writing this post.....

3) "Everything in India Is Cheap" mentality: everytime my dad comes back..he would bring back some stuffs from india....from "cheap watches" to jewelry...I know my dad is lovely and means well..and I do like the watch he bought...but jewelry??? my ear hole almost bled from trying to poke the earring through!!!!!!! now I just display the stuffs without wearing them...:) but shhhh don't tell my dad that!!

4) Indian "bullshit": the latest thing my dad asked me to read...as shown above...world class bullshit!!!! like alright ok I admit in my line of work and since my whole PHD is on cardiovascular disease..is obvious the booklet above is more bullshit than anything else...and my dad is asking me my thoughts on it....hai seriusly need to educate my dad and get rid of the "do you know in India........" crap

ok ok maybe I should stop here...India is not such a bad place...really....after all I've been there...

Which Is Better?

Note: Talk about dedication to my blog...I "ponteng" half day of work today and I used approximately 30 minutes of it to write a post....:)

After months of waiting for my hair to grow long again, the time has finally come to go and have a hair cut!!!! yup after that drastic short haircut I got almost a year ago, I sort of got sick of short hair and want back my long hair...such a horrible process!!!! for months I swore to god my hair felt more like a broom than a hair...it was growing like a bush and combing it every morning just became such a chore to the point I rather just tie my hair up all the time.....

There are 2 pictures shown this time...one was because I was kinda backside itchy before my cutting hair day and decided to play with the hair straightener at home... :) I thought it turned out kinda well....but hmmm straightening my hair every morning is seriusly a big no no to me....

So since I'm going back to KL in 24 days time (hint hint), it is just about time to get a good hair cut..and after close to 5 hours at the hair dresser doing every god damn thing possible in there (ok that was quite exagerated..it wasn't like i got hair extensions or bleached my hair), I finally came out with my curly hair back!!!!! :D I'm happy once again..although I really can't decide whether I look better in straight or curly.....ah well.....I know I'm kind hard to please...:)

Why Did I Leave My Work To The Last Minute?

Short post...suppose to be doing my presentation slide for the STUPID monday morning meeting....and as usual i'm procrastinating....can't help it..I realise I only like maybe 4 new results to show??? that would mean like 1 new result a week...crap....this is what I get for sitting down on my butt the whole entire 2 weeks just concentrating on writing...and how far have i went with my writing??!!! I don't even want to talk about it!! I'm currently praying for a few miracles to happen now......

1) my inbox would light up with a new email from my boss to say the meeting is cancelled!!! FAT HOPE!

2) I suddenly have diarrhoea/sick/headache or one of those so I can call in a sickie....but FAT HOPE too

3) my mum/bro/sis needs me for something urgently tmr....but then if those emergency comes up sounds kinda bad.....so I guess that is a FAT HOPE too...

4) my computer blowing up!!! urmmmm come to think of it...maybe not...I can't live without my computer....hai

Ok I guess I should get back to work..9pm now...and I still have to scan/take a pic of my results to put in powerpoint....crap crap crap....I just want to sleep!!!!

wooo on a more hiao side....I finally cut/style/curled my hair today...pictures of it??? when me free ok??? I really need to go do the stupid presentation.....

No Cecilia's real birthday is not 21st of March...it was actually on the 20th....and since we work at the same place, I thought I would surprise her with a slice of cake at work (since the previous day she insist she was coming in)...and of course my dead Cecilia did not come in to work on the 20th!!! grrrrrrrr luckily I only got her a slice...ended up having to eat it!!! grrrrrrr

Oh wait back to the celebration....it was quite drama filled celebration I guess....with Kaka, Cecilia and I thinking we were late and rushing from our houses to Kaka's lab to Big Echo to the restaurant (all within 45 minutes!! shockers!)Cecilia initially booked the Bavarian Beer Cafe...and for god knows what reason when we went there, THE PLACE WAS CLOSED!!! no kidding...maybe because it was Good Friday...but still!! luckily we manage there was still Jackson's On George open for a decent meal (although the food took like seriusly 30 minutes to be served...)..we did keep ourself entertained by giving Cecilia her bday present: Swarovski Tinker Bell Mobile Phone Accessory

After stuffing ourself with yummy steaks, we rushed all the way to karaoke...luckily there on time....karaoke was seemingly dramaless.....no one got really drunk drunk...we were playing dice games and Cecilia was quite a pro...even managing to get five 1's at one go...haha now this is what I call "the macau gambling queen"...but just when you think we would end the day dramaless...our karaoke session got cut short by 10 minutes...why??? because it is supposedly Good Friday and the police don't let you open after 11.30pm...so everyone had to be shoo-ed out of the vicinity....ah well...atleast we were refunded back our money...:)

Note: You would never imagined how many threats/phone calls/name callings I received over the past few weeks just to put this post up.....

Ok I am FORCED to put this post up by my sister who happened to be extremely jealous when she saw the post i put up a few weeks ago...so here is the post after a long delay...just because i needed to compile everything and take picture (and also going through the list carefully as to not miss anything out or not seriusly I'll be getting screaming phone calls tmr morning)

So anyways just a quick run through of what I got....

1) most importantly she got my concert DVDs (and guess what is not pirated!)....my Leo Ku concert (so nice I tell you)...then she got the Eason Chen (which incidentally is coming to give a concert in Sydney in 2 weeks time and I think I will just save my 70 bucks and not go and watch the DVD)...Jay Chou concert wasn't too bad either...wooo and I have 2 Alex Fong CDs..and 2 new jap drama....ah well that would take me a while to go through

2) Lip Gloss from Clinique....yes a whole entire set...because you would never know what I feel like wearing...:)

3) Cooking Stuffs...the sushi makers are so cool..make life so much easier and the sushi is so much more nicer!!! and cute cookie cups...woo hooo

4) Sun Block Lotion..because she keep insisting Clarins one ze best!

5) Cute House Slippers (for when I move house) and a nice pair of shoes (not too hiao)

6) and last but not least 100 sheets of facial mask....just because is cheap there and way over priced here....

Yes super short summary because I want to go shower and use the facial mask now...muahahaha

In The Past One Week

Been busy you know...can't update as much lately....just to give you a quick summary of what I've been up to in the past week.....

1) Went to my first ever "homosexual" play...Corpus Christi it is called..heared it was a pretty good show...truthfull speaking it wasn't too bad at all..infact I did quite enjoy it...although I have to admit I did squirm looking at the actors....and talk about feeling out of place and outcast...little or no asians at all..and I can count the number of females with my 2 hands?

2) Went to a hen's night...first ever in Sydney...see that cake?? talk about complete with hair and semen....haha if anyone ever needs to find a place that sell this sort of cakes...come ask me...muahahha...they even have boobs!!! ;P

3) 2 karaoke night out in a row...and 2 alcohol fueled night out in a row...and just one day of seriusly walking around like a dead floating zombie...not too bad eh???

4) and I came to the conclusion that I have this curse with new cars...few years back when I got a new car within months I had a burst tyre....and today?? within 1 month of getting my car I have a punctured tyre....you tell me..is this curse or just retribution???? hmmmmmm

I wonder.........

Lionel & Jeff Return From Tibet Party

Note: My new year resolution is definately not going to be happening...been cursing a lot lately...and definately not saving money!!!! ARGH

The only efficient thing that Lionel and Jeff did before their holidays was to organise this party...:) Why is it called Return From Tibet party I have no idea since they did go to other places too....maybe is because they actually came back alive and in one piece..before their trip I was already telling them to start writing their "will" and leaving all their belongings to me...:) but I guess now no point...

I went there pretty early to help both of them out making the sushi....since Cecilia said she doesn't trust them and only trust me...haha thanks Ceci!!!! making the sushi was fun fun fun...I think we did a pretty good job...if anyone wants a sushi platter next time call us...but we will charge you for it!!! :) Jeff and I even made 2 very special sushi.....with heaps of wasabi inside....and nicely tucked under the raw fish...and the first sushi Ning picked up after we told him about the wasabi??? the special sushi!!! haha that sure made my day!!!!! the other "special" sushi went to Estella..but we did warn her beforehand...afterall the "special" sushi was just made for Ning...:)

The night continued on with Lionel and Jeff showing us the pictures which they took during the entire trip...pretty long seriusly...but you guys can see some of it if you go to Jeff's blog...hopefully he updates it...:)

Oh before I forget...the first picture on top is of Lionel's bday...since he is so special even gave him 2 cakes!!! one a chestnut cake..and the other a honey dew cake...yes all weird sounding.....he ain't exactly normal you know!!!!!!

This week is Su Yin's last week in Sydney before going to Parkes to work...Parkes I think is about 5 hours drive away from Sydney...so chances are won't be able to catch up with her for half a year!!!! so before she go we decided to have a food hopping ceremony so that she can go fat fat fat before going to Parkes (which is in the middle of nowhere!!!) and then when she is there she can slowly lose the weight..muahahaha...and when she comes back to Sydney for holidays, we can then go for more food hopping ceremony!!!!! nice friends eh????

So first stop for the night was Sushi Rio on Liverpool Street...ambience was nice...food was yum....had a few plates there for ourselves....it was 7.45 already that time and I was starving!!!! was controlling myself not to grab more!!!! and I think all of us felt the same way...after getting a few plates, we just quickly move on to the next venue.....Stop 2 was KFC..yes Parkes is that secluded and isolated they don't have a KFC!!! shocking!!! We got the Dinner for 2 Set with additional popcorn chicken to be shared between the 4 of us....me seriusly don't like the hot & spicy chicken in Aus....not even spicy!!! much much prefer the original ones.....After KFC we then went back to Su Yin and Thuan's place to get the car...and drove to Cafe De Wheels at Wooloomooloo for our 3rd stop....I didn't bother getting the pies there...me more a hotdog person...all of us got the hotdog with cheese sauce and chilli...absolute yum!!!!!!! didn't spend much time here since we were too cheap to pay parking...so we instantly went to our 4th and final stop at Pancake @ The Rocks..yup no one makes better pancakes than them...I think.....so since it was our last stop...we decided we would definately order the rack of pork ribs......and one pancake...after winning the Rock Paper Scissors game with Jacinta, we went for the blueberry heaven pancake....I have to say the 4th stop definately killed me...I was so full by the end of it that it was so difficult to sleep after that!!!! but it was so worth it!!!! $25 for 4 places in one night!!! *burp*

Yeh finally Leo and Jeff are back from their long long holiday...make me wait so long for my presents!! but yeh they got me a whole set of those capsule toys!!! different version of Stitch!! so cute!!! especially the one which he was wrapped up in bandage....like "mummy" like that...cute!!!! and the snacks they brought back...super yummy fruit mochis and the nutty candies....unfortunately only one "edible" chocalate.....and 2 chocalate condoms.......god knows why but ah well anything chocalate is good I guess.....

But glad to have you back guys....the lab has kinda been quiet without you 2 trouble makers!!!!

Wow more than a week of not updating my blog...yes it has been a seriusly long long week....I felt like this week lasted for more than 7 days....the picture above shows a pedometer I was wearing just to prove my point..my family didn't believe it when I said that my work is seriusly quite tiring at times...and worse they didn't believe me when I said I'm sure I'm walking more than the recommended 10,000 steps a day..and they were like BULLSHIT.....and so to prove my point I wore the pedometer the minute I leave the house at 7.50am and when I reached home today which was 5pm....MORE THAN 10K!!!! and no I did not cheat in any ways whatsoever!!!! but crap man....I'm actually bloody hell exercising without me knowing it...but hey the more reason now to tell ppl I'm not exercising anymore!!! wasting energy only!!!!

So what else have I been up to???? guess what??!!! My paper is finally online on pubmed (is like google for researchers/scientists) !!!! You can see the big summary of it over here...Unfortunately they published online the wrong version of it!!!! there were some typo and grammatical error....ah well...hopefully they edit it before they actually print it on paper...but woo hoo me so happy!!!! finally!!!!! and now I can finally see a light at the end of the long long journey of my PHD....now to just complete my thesis and then BUM BUM BUM!!!!!!! I so can't wait!!!!

New Year New Car

I know I haven't got my new Honda Civic Vti-L yet...but I got the phone call this morning telling me the car is ready!!! Anyways should be getting the car on Thursday or Friday depending when the cheque is approved....which is for the better anyway since the next few days is raining like shit!!! I don't want to dirty my new precious...still thinking of what name to name my new car...any ideas anyone????

Come to think of it this week should be a good week...got an email to say that my accepted paper would be available online on the first day of CNY..yeh my first "smart geeky" self....hopefully is google-ble in future....then atleast the Nicole Tan would atleast come out a "smart" one.....then get me new car this week....sis coming back this week with goodies (if no goodies she is walking back from the airport!)......the only thing to complete this beatiful week is if I can sleep to the max this weekend....which so far looks pretty promising...muahahahahahaha

I know I should be blogging more and catching up on backdated posts...but lately has been super super busy....

1) Mum and bro is back from hols...no more me me me time anymore

2) Work has been building up...doesn't help when all your cells decides to grow so nicely....and worse is when you are still in lala land and can't get into the momentum!!! and the person I report to for radiation in uni is taking a huge holiday so had to rush all the radiation work as much as possible so that there wouldn't be any backlog...

3) Bro started school...so now instead of my usual 8.10 start..we have a 7.30 start....do you know how much sleep I've been missing out?!

4) Getting a new car...I hate it!!! I get no joy in looking for a car...but finally I've decided on the car...truthfully speaking not a car I really like..but got it quite cheap thanks to Cecilia introducing someone to me...so ah well....hopefully next week can pose pose a bit with my new car yar?

5) Just realised next week is CNY....arghhh so unprepared..haven't even had time to do my yearly baking session yet...going to do it this Sunday..too busy tmr to do it...got a bday/farewell party to attend at Jamberoo definately not looking forward to the 6am wake up call....ARGHHHH

6) And the main reason why I can't blog at night now would be my stupid laptop at home!!! is having the uncontrollable "s" syndrome again!!! but it does make me wonder...why is it that most programs have a shortcut key that involves "s" ???? And no I can't get it fixed due to some blunder on the Malaysian side...so now all I can do (unless of course I want to pay a few hundreds for it) is to wait till April when I go back to Malaysia to scream and "cekik" the Sony ppl....

AND TO MAKE THINGS MORE SAD.....THERE IS NO CHINESE NEW YEAR BREAK HERE!!! I NEED THE SLEEP!!!!

This was when my dad came to visit the whole family....and we decided to bring him to eat one of his favourite food in Sydney...one thing my dad loves about Sydney is the roasted pigeon....as unhealthy and oily as it is, my dad always insist on eating it....hai.....

So we went to Oriental Friendship Restaurant at Beverly Hills (and no the postcode of this place is not 90210)...we got the roasted pigeon (we did come here for it), lobster with noodles (I always like this the bestt!), scallops (anything expensive is good), claypot tofu (just so so), salted egg veggie (my sister's new love) and hainan chicken (seriusly not good..the chicken was so tough and so not soft!)....talk about over ordering because I was so stuffed by the end of dinner.....and this place is one of the few chinese restaurant I go to that actually give free fruits and "tong sui" afterwards...*burp*

During dinner, my sister was busily complaining about the lack of photos Jonathan takes with her....especially since Jonathan and I took so many photos that day...so just for Joyce's sake...here you go....the only picture of you and Jonathan that day..muahaha..admit it Jonathan loves me more!!!! :P

Sugar Hit With Leo and Edwin

Since it was the last few days of Sydney Good Food Month, Edwin and I decided to atleast go try one of the Sugar Hit. Sugar Hit is basically part of the good food month where participating hotels have a dessert platter along with either dessert wine or cognac for $20 every night for a month...so after reading through the various reviews for different hotels, we decided to go to the best of the best aka Intercontinental Hotel...and I conveniently dragged Leo along since well he is french and chances are he would love it...:)

The one thing I was not too happy about was that the waitress serving us did not ask us whether we wanted wine or cognac and assumed all of us wanted wine...a bit wasted since I heard the cognac was pretty good...but the Brown Brothers dessert wine was absolutely yum!!! and we each had a dessert platter for ourselves...yummm yummmm.....no need to share..woo hoo.... the Caramel Walnut Cognac Slice was to me the best of the lot....it was drizzled with chocalate sauce and gold shavings....absolutely heavenly....the Triple Chocolate Hennessey Pyramid was good too...chocalate was perfect and so smooth!!! My least favourite would have to be the Passionfruit & Strawberry Gelee....I guess I'm more a sweet chocalatey person rather than a fruity sour person...yes the gelee was kinda sour for me...but it had fresh fruits surrounding it and Leo and Edwin liked it....so maybe is just me...but I did like the white chocalate on top..:)

Kinda regret now not going to the other Sugar Hit in other hotels...ah well there is always 2008!!

After work yesterday, some of us decided to go for a nice dinner at the city..Estella and I decided to eat something really spicy and different...and god knows how but we ended up going to this place called ShanCheng HotPot King 山城火鍋王 located on Sussex Street, Sydney ..The last time I came here was a while ago for Kaka's birthday...one of the best places to have hot pot around here...to me anyways......

When our mostly meat dishes (just one plate of veggie for Estella and Ning) arrived, we jumped straight into eating..hungry!!! I think within 10 minutes my whole mouth was literally numb..between the spiciness and the pepper that I keep biting into, I seriusly couldn't taste anything anymore!!! Estella who loves her chilli was also starting to feel the chilli...Ning being his chicken self (j/kidding) didn't touch much of the chilli part since he doesn't take spicy food....so I guess he is the safest among 3 of us since the next day aka today..me tummy seriusly feel numb!!!

After being booked to come for Mary's Hawaiian Party since last year, the day has finally came!!! was looking forward to this day...I get to see ppl in hawaiian clothes....first fancy dress party in a while...

Party was good....Big thanks to Mary and Simon for a really great party and for the superb cocktails (Simon makes a pretty good bartender!)i think the best dressed of the night was definately Mary and Leo...like Mary looked super sexy with the straw skirt...and Leo...ahhhhh my sexy hawaiian pimp!! :D I have to say I didn't mingle as much as I should have....most of the people who came for the party were from my department...but dunno them too well to go mingle around...mainly mingle with the ppl I know...ah well I guess I am kinda anti-social...but atleast I managed to take heaps of photos with people....and thanks to Mary and Simon for the great hawaiian deco....gives an excellent backdrop for more camwhoring....especially the coconut tree :D "hiao would always be hiao"

The Egg Hatched!

Remember the $5 I spent on the egg that is supposed to hatch? It actually did hatch!!!! To be exact 14 hours after I poured water in it....and what did I get??? a not so cute looking parrot....although to me it looked more like a chicken...but ah well....I guess there goes my hope on a cute guy coming out of this hatched egg....*wishful thinking*

Now this supposed parrot/chicken is sitting in my living room with a ruler next to it...yesterday it just outgrew the bowl it was in (around 14.5cm now)...just transferred it to a bigger bowl....want to see how big it would grow....I'm hoping to get it to grow up to 50cm...you think is possible???? or is it just another wishful thinking?

Hai so fast and 2007 has just gone....truthfully speaking I think for me 2007 was just a so so year...had lots of ups and downs..the "ups" would include my big big holidays (KL, Bangkok, Hong Kong & Macau) and loads of "hiao moments" and "intoxicated" moments..the "downs" ah well let bygones be bygones....but definately looking forward to 2008!!! finally the year which I can safely say that I'm going to be over and done with my PHD....the year which I shall get a little more freedom and move out of home.....the year which one of me favourite cousin Denise is getting married (yes I'm counting down to May and another great holiday)....loads of good mates getting married (yes I'm at that age where I'll be going for more weddings than parties!)....2008 already sounds busy!!!!

For this New Year I decided to brave the crowd and traffic and go out to watch the fireworks live in action and not from the TV....after dinner, some of us which include Joyce, Ricky, Mary, Simon, Lionel and me drove to Vaucluse....we have seriusly got to be the luckiest people around because we got the perfect parking spot 3 minutes before the fireworks started...how lucky is that??!!! The fireworks to me was just so so...nothing great and new from the other years....I think Sydney seriusly need to find a new creative team!!!! after the fireworks we decided to stay a bit there to wait for the traffic to die down...luckily we were prepared with a bottle of champagne!!! muahaha....a guy from the opposite house even came down from his few million dollar house to bask in front of us....:) atleast Lionel was kind enuff to give him 20 cents...:)

The day that Jacob came to Sydney for a holiday for a week..and the first place I dragged him to was Bernice's birthday.....since it is her birthday and no way me not going for it...after all she is my "achima" :)

The birthday bash was at Rengaya, North Sydney...it is one of the nicer japanese BBQ place around Sydney...and they do provide parking for those of you driving....dinner was quite on the steep side with each of us forking out about $50 but it was so worth it!!! We ordered the BBQ with heaps of meat, got some sashimi, yukke (raw beef with egg), beef tataki (another raw beef that tasted so good) and the sushi rice with heaps of raw fish and egg (so good)..most of us got the grape calpis with vodka for drink while crazy Heidi got this super sour drink with loads of mint leaves (have no idea what is the name of it but it was so sour!)....Achima as you can see was happy to receive her gift...got her the Swarovski crystal bracelet she's been wanting for so long...:) Hope you like it achima!!!

After dinner, most of us went to karaoke for a good singing time...and this time NO ALCOHOL INVOLVED!!! yes after the last few parties we had, we decided we shall remain sober and sane...and my what difference it made...we actually sang!!! muahaha

Jacob's Trip To Sydney

Note: New look for my blog in the new year....is old one better or new one?? From now on I've decided to update as much of the new happenings around first...only when there are no new happenings I will try to update on the old stuffs....good idea???? hmmmm

The reason why lately I've been so slack on my post is because my old pal Jacob came over to Sydney for a holiday from Perth..yes one whole week! Talk about torturing my small little brain on where to bring him!!!! but so far I think I did pretty good....and the amount of driving I did...half dying!!!!!

Anyways of course if anyone comes to Sydney, they must see the Sydney Opera House & The Harbour Bridge.....so far the best place to see both of it and take good pics would definatley have to be at Mrs Macquarie Point....another place worth visiting would definately be Bondi Beach and no it ain't a nude beach!! (although sometimes you might get lucky...)..another place worth the visit would be La Perouse..not a very tourist area but the view is good...For those of you who loves animals and the wildlife try getting the 3 attraction pass for $60 ($40 if you are a student) that allows you to go to the Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife World and go up the Sydney Tower....

And if you guys have a car (like me), then other noteworthy places to go would be Port Stephen (to see dolphins..but beware they aren't too smart), Hunter Valley (for the wines!!!), Blue Mountain (to see the 3 Sisters and to take the steepest incline railway in the world) and Jenolan Caves (supposedly most beautiful cave around)....wont' really go into details of these places right now since I've visited it a few months back and when I'm free I will write a more detailed post about it..okies?

So did I miss any other Sydney places to bring Jacob???!!!!

Supposed Hatching Egg Part 1

Ok I was walking around Paddy's Market the other day and stumble accross this amazing thing for $5....I'm not really believing it would really work...but hey just 5 bucks...why not try it right???

This supposed hatching egg is supposed to be submerge in a cup of water for 12-24 hours...and the supposed cute little pet animal will come slowly from it...I'm the suppose to leave it there for another 48 hours for it to completely come out of the shell...after that I'm suppose to move the supposed cute little pet into a new container and watch it grow, grow and grow....I wonder how bit it would grow...or more importantly I wonder how cute the animal would be...hmmm why can't they have a cute guy coming out of the egg?? why animal?! WASTED!

I seriusly think this world is a very small world...thanks to facebook I realised that a good friend of mine knows someone who works in my centre...yeh was a shocker to hear that Thuan whom by the way have been working on the same floor like me for over 3 years actually knows Jacinta...wow what a small small world...and since Jacinta is coming back to Sydney, we decided to have dinner with her together...

The last time I saw Jacinta in February, she was still a visitor here in Sydney and not yet permanently based here...Finally she manage to settle all her stuffs and woo hoo move to Sydney...more people to hang out with!!! so decided to go have dinner with her and catch up and touch base with her...

So after getting to know Su Yin (Thuan's gf and also a close friend of Jacinta), we decided to hit SuperBowl Restaurant at Chinatown for a quick dinner...and since I was in my craving mood for duck, I got the roasted duck rice while the others just got some of the noodles available...the duck here was yum...but I think peking duck would be much much better....

A day after Xmas and I'm suppose to be joining my sister for some shopping..but decided to go first to Royal Randwick for the boxing day races with Lio and Jeff since it is free and Nicole likes free stuffs!!! It is actually free for people with an international passport (so lucky for Lio and I but not too lucky for Jeff)...Jeff and I however were the good ones and decided to get dressed up a bit...Lio was suppose to be dressed up too...but he didn't!!!! see now no nice hiao pics of all 3 of us!!! The race course was seriusly quite packed...some of them dressed up while some of them I guess just didn't bother since the most important thing to them was to win $$$....

This is the 2nd time I'm coming to the race course actually..the first time I was actually too chicken to bet...and totally regretted it...so no matter what this time I told myself I will bet....but then it was so confusing!!!!! which horse should I bet for? how should I bet for it? how much should I put in? should I put all bets on one horse? or should I choose the trifecta? arghhh!!!!! too many decision to make!!! but finally decided to play the trifecta and put my bet on the 3 horses I think would come in top 3....Jeff and I decided to put on horse number 1,2 and 8 while Lionel decided to do the impossible and put on 3,6 & 7.....I also put a bet on some individual horses which has the lowest chance to win (who knows a miracle could happen and I could be rich rich rich?!)...so all fingers crossed

Once the race started, I swear to God my heart started to drop..I was like OMG OMG OMG...COME ON 1,2 & 8!!!!! it was only at the last few seconds that finally all three of my horses won...woo hoo!!! I actually won!!! yeh!!! Jeff & I then went happily to collect our money while Lionel look at us collecting...:) is ok Lionel!! I'll treat you for coffee once me back from holiday ok???

Hong Kong Day 1: Lan Kwai Fong

After our long long time spent at Victoria Peak we decided to come down from there and go eat dinner...we were all so hungry!!!! we ate at this place near out hotel...I don't know what is the name of the place..but the food was not too bad...I had the Egg Beef Rice....quite yummy..velverse and her daddy decided for the Black Bean Rice (cuz got the beef and her dad got the pork)...Denise got the Portugese Seafood Rice while saiku got the YongChew Rice..i don't think is too expensive...was HKD 135 (AUD20) for 5 of us....

After dinner we all went back to have a bit of rest...well actually it was my aunt and uncle...Denise, velverse and I decided to continue our little adventure more (although lack of sleep and tired!)...we went on to Lan Kwai Fong, the supposed happening place full of night clubs and pubs in Hong Kong. And how so true...and on a Friday night too..the place was PACKED!!!!...and loads of drunks around too..even 2 of them started taking picture with my 2 sexy cousins...:) we went to the place with not too many ppl (so we can sit!)...Denise opted for a beer (I never knew she likes beer!), velverse got the Buddha Fix (a mixture of vodka, lemon juice with lychee and mandarins)...i guess she just needed to be closer to Buddha.. :) as for me I got the Chocalate Monkey (vodka, creme de cacao, creme de banana, chocalate, cream and banana)...super sweet and yumm...it was a fun fun trip...first time 3 of us actually went drinking together...Cuz Power!!!!

Merry Xmas & A Happy 2008 New Year

Note: Woo hoo home alone till mid January!!! Not starting work until 14th Jan...lalala I'm starting 2008 really good!!!

I know a little backdated for this post..but is the first post for this year!!!!!! (and I just made it by 45 minutes)...been so busy for the past few week....with the parties, gatherings, car-hunting & shopping...Not working but still definately lack of sleep!!!

So a new year...truthfully speaking it feels the same to me like yesterday and the day before..nothing is really different...New Year Resolution? well I sort of have not make any since long long time ago....since chances are I wouldn't be keeping it...:) but there are a few things I guess I should change.....so I'm going to give these few a try starting today...and let's just see how long it lasts

1) Swear much much less: shit, damn, fart and stupid are not swear words....and this rule is not applicable when driving!

2) Graduate this year with a PHD and look for a proper job: DEFINATELY ACHIEVABLE!

3) Save more money: I shall not buy nonsense stuffs...Must think 10x before buying anything!

That is about all I can think of.....did I miss anything???

Hong Kong Day 1: Victoria Peak and "Meet The Hubbies"

Finally we arrived at the foot of Victoria Peak, a famous landmark of Hong Kong...we took the historical tram up the peak...at the peak, we went straight to the top of Peak Tower for some picture taking of the beautiful view of Hong Kong...the view from here is just magnificent..all the high rise buildings and the ocean....we actually came to this place twice...we came back a few hours later again to get the night shot of it...all the lights and the views...ahhhh if only I can be like some of the resident nearby, own a big big mansion and see this view everyday...

After our daylight picture taking at the top of Peak Tower, we went downstairs to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum..I have to say it is rather quite expensive to go in here but is definately worth it for velverse and I since we want to go see the wax figure of our hubbies...ahhhh my Leo and velverse's Andy....we definately came out of this place happy happy!!!! This place mainly consist of a lot of famous Asian superstars (which was why we were more than happy to be here....they also had loads of historical figures (which I admit i can't remember who is who), sporting heroes and western superstars..and obviously all these are not as many as the Madame Tussauds in London (which seriusly have heaps more but definately not many asian superstars)...but atleast the important ones are here right?? and as can be seen from the pictures, velverse and I were the crazy ones..haha I think we practically took pictures with 80% of the figurines there...we are after all the "hiao" ones....:)

After spending a few hours camwhoring at Madame Tussauds, we decided to walk around the Peak Tower and the adjacent Peak Galleria...we ended up taking a break at Delifrance...we had some croissant, apple tea and ice lemon tea..yeah all those walking and camwhoring sure made us hungry!!!!! The weather was seriusly getting from bad to worse....it was cloudy at first then hazy and then it started raining!!! arghh....velverse and I were like totally unprepared and had no jacket!! we ended up sharing Denise's scarf to keep us warm....thank god Denise scarf was big!!!! Luckily the weather started getting better and enable us to go back up the Peak Tower to get the night shots of HK...ahhhhhh Lucky Lucky Lucky!!!!

Woo hoo Xmas is just tmr...can't wait!! infact I'm going to start going in celebration mood in 30 minutes time!! woo hoo...xmas eve party at Kaka's house....Xmas lunch at Mary's house tmr...and family Xmas dinner tmr....suddenly me feeling tired...did my last minute shopping just now too...NEVER NEVER AGAIN on XMAS EVE....

But just pictures of presents I got for my 2 most beloved cousins...haha too bad you guys would now have to wait till saturday when Nicole's Santa Mummy go back to distribute...:) so you guys can be in suspense for a while..since velverse dear made me suspense for 1 week waiting for her "love package" to arrive..do you know how many sleepless nights I went through??!!!! And all the stuffs inside was so cute!! I damn like!!! thanks cuzzie dear!!!! Was looking back at some old HK picture and saw this one of cuz and I playing...sorry Denise you are not in it..you never play with us!!!!! But don't worry I still love you!!xoxoxoxo

Three Countries In One Day: Kuala Lumpur to Macau to Hong Kong

Woo hoo finally can start on my Hong Kong/Macau trip post...been looking forward to this trip so much....first "faraway" trip I'm going with my relatives without my parents...yes this trip is with velverse and her whole family members: her parents and Denise....

The trip for me actually begin in KL the day before..velverse and I went to The Curve for lunch at NanXiang ManTou Dian...it was a newly opened restaurant so we decided to try it...the garlic cucumber came as an entree straight to your table (and we get charged RM1 straight away!)...we then ordered the Shrimp Ball With Crab Roe (this was ze best out of the rest to me...so crunchy outside yet so wet and moist inside..yum), Fried Glutinous Rice With Pork (this was ok too..but I think they put too much white pepper until all I could taste was the pepper), NanXiang Pork Rib (this was the 2nd best of the rest...fried pork and dipped into salty/pepperish powder dip...quite yum) and the Crab Roe Steam Dumpling (a huge bamboo container for 4 small dumpling)...truthfully speaking the dumplings here do deserve a pass because they are pretty yum and very juicy inside...However the pricing here would be a little steep for some people..the total price for this lunch for both velverse and I was like RM85.10 (around AUD30..which in my eye is expensive for Msia price!)...after lunch we were looking high and low for a money changer to get some HK dollars...arghh the stress!!!! so much things to do..we still need to go home pack and fetch Denise from work!!!

After fetching Denise from work we straight went to Port Dickson (around 1 and a half hour from KL) since saiku and kucheong house is closer to the airport...the trip back to PD was just bad!! got stuck in a traffic jam and not to mention desperately in need to pee!! we reached PD close to 9pm...had a quick dinner before going back to sleep since our flight was at 6am the next day!!!! after just a few hours sleep was forced to wake up to go to the airport...*yawn* Nicole is definately not awake!!! everything is so blurry to me!!! All I remember was me boarding the flight to Macau and straight to sleep again!!!! Until i got awaken by the annoying "CHINA" woman sitting behind me...all deserved to be cursed!! NO ONE WAKES NICOLE UP FROM HER SLUMBER!!!!!!! (not even food can wake me up!)

When we got to Macau, we didn't do any sight seeing at all..we just went straight to the pier to get a ferry to Hong Kong..time is precious...faster go to HK and we get to hiao!! muahahaha...truthfully speaking I was still a little sleepy so in the ferry I was sleeping still..hehe..it was a horrible ferry ride actually because the weather was quite bad and the sea was extremely choppy...I could hear people throwing up around...and I was like "THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS NICOLE THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS"..(because I'm the type of person if I hear ppl throwing up I tend to throw up as well!!!)..Luckily I reached HK without any dramas..*phew*

Our hotel was located right at Causeway Bay 銅鑼灣..perfect location for food and shopping...after quickly dropping our luggages, we just went straight around for food...So hungry!!!! decided to go to this place called Fu Kee right outside Times Square...velverse and I got the mixed BBQ rice (pork and duck/goose) while her parents got the pork ball noodle soup...I actually forgot what Denise got...(SORRY!)...kucheong got the almond milk (first time actually I heard of it...but taste quite good) while I got my normal Coffee Tea Milk...(look I'm currently obsessed with it!)

After lunch we had a walk around before catching a cab to our next destination.......*hint hint* to meet my hubbie....;P
